Kubota M7060 Problems ???

   / Kubota M7060 Problems ??? #31
I have nothing to offer on that. In my time at this Kubota dealer we haven't taken a call or written a work order on an M series hydraulic shuttle. And not because of a lack of these tractors in our trade area.
In his post 5030 references adjustability of the clutch lockup pressure. Without digging into the relevant WSM I'm prepared to take his comment at face value.

It's on the side of the main case (on my open station under the seat pan but only accessible by removing the LH wheel and inner fender shield) unless you have chipmunk hands.... It's a machine screw adjustment but you need a liquid filled pressure gauge as well as the correct fitting and the lockup pressure is listed in the WSM. If it's a cab unit getting to it is even more complex. My 2004 M9000 OS was a bit low but I borrowed the gauge from my dealer and adjusted the line pressure to the OEM spec. Was a couple years ago, I think I remember it being around 1900 PSI, but again the spec is in the WSM and my WSM is in the shop, not here.

One thing to note and that is, even if the lockup pressure is correct, there will always be a 'lag' between actuation and total lockup because the hydraulic packs are just that, hydraulic fluid actuated. Not a dry clutch 'on and off' scenario but unlike a dry clutch, component internal wear is negligible. You have never had an issue with the travelling or PTO clutches on a hydraulic shuttle Kubota simply because there aren't any issues. My dealer is the same. Lots of them in the field and never touch them.

The OS I own has 6000 meter hours on it, all farm hours with a large number of them loader work, manure management, round bale loading and hay production with no issues and the only reason I checked it and adjusted it was 2 years ago I stripped all the tin off it and refinished the sheet metal, was getting pretty beat up from farming. When I had the tin off, the valve was out in the open so I checked it and it was a couple hundred PDI below spec so I adjusted it. It made NO difference in lockup time at all.

Both my M's exhibit about the same time lag in lockup in the travelling pack as well as the PTO pack and have since new. The valve itself has a built in proportioning section that senses load and adjusts the lockup accordingly so at time is can be harsher than others but that is why there is a damper plate in the bellhousing, to mitigate the harsh lockup impact on the crankshaft.

Kubota really put some serious thought and design expertise in the system and in my view, it works flawlessly. I wouldn't own a large Kubota without the hydraulic shuttle. I don't ever want to split a tractor to replace a dry clutch, done that before, a thankless and expensive task.

It will never achieve instant lockup, it's fluid controlled. IMO, a good thing from the shock load standpoint and no dry clutch replacement. I'd say at 6K hours with no issues and used hard, I've tested it and it's working fine. Same with my other M., but it only has 3000 hours on it. Still new.....:D

Well I went to talk to a Kubota dealer mechanic this AM and he confirmed this shuttle engagement hesitation is a Kubota clutch problem. He has already repaired a few of these which require splitting the tractor. He says usually they have more hours. So unfortunately, even though I am favoring a Bota, I am going to look at other brands. Now I question if this is a problem with all of them that have a hydraulic shuttle? :-(

All I can say on that is your dealer had another customer in mind for the unit. He's feeding you a line of poop. The Kubota hydraulic shuttle is bulletproof and I can attest to that. I think with 6000 farm hours on one of mine, if it was going to break it would have long ago. I use them and hard. I maintain them but actual use is always hard. I don't baby anything, never have.

I deal with a large dealer here in Michigan and their lead tech and I are good friends and he's told me more than once in the course of conversation that they never see units come in for pack issues unless the owner don't keep up with fluid and filter changes. Same with the engines. the smaller Kubota'a are noted for head gasket issues and con rod problems but it's usually the owners fault, using ether to facilitate a cold start because of a shot battery or fuel system issue due to lack of maintenance (Kubota's don't like starting fluid, tends to bend con rods) and plugged radiators which causes overheating and blown head gaskets and are all 100% on the owners.

just as a footnote. sometime back by 8540 experienced similar problems. occasionally wouldn't even engage
turned out to be a sticking hyd shuttle shifter cable. once replaced, (1 k repair bill) everything is fine. just something to explore before the big repair job you mention

Not using the right oil, or old oil not warmed up.

Pretty sold system not to hard to diagnose

You must be one of those owners who always have the dealer do everything..... 1K for a cable replacement? You jest. It's a 20 minute job to replace. and the actuator cable is 70 bucks.

Only thing not called out in the diagrams is the static pressure adjustment screw which is on the front of the valve (facing away from the main gearcase. It's bullet proof system but there will always be a lag in lockup because it's a hydraulic oil actuated clutch system. Consequently, when it's frigid outside lockup will be slower than when it's 90 out, but then when I plow snow with my M's I always warm them up in the barn before moving them (high idle) while I have a cup of coffee and my hot oatmeal.

I would not run anything else except a hydraulic shuttle and at 6K and 2500K respectively on my units, with zero issues, I'd say they are very reliable.

Normally I don't disparage dealers but in this case your dealer is 100% FOS. I'll leave it at that/:laughing:

Just a note about my M7060
Yes I have had fluid spew from the breather line. It did it on the first day i got it new and for over a year. The dealer checked it the day i recieved it and continued working until they got it fixed.
The crazy thing is it only did it when I put it on the road to my other farm about 5 mile away.
Never did it when I worked it no matter the task.
We are enjoying our tractor especially now...
Has over 400 hours. Has 12 speed transmission with hi/lo pto.
Thanks to Kubota and Mitchell tractor for the fix...

My buddy has a M7060 12spd 250hrs bought new & it’s puking coolant out reservoir as soon as it’s used.
dealer told him it’s loose head bolts or a faulty head gasket.
it’s still under warranty & Kubota dealer has it ….
