If erosion does start, I think the op has plenty of experience draining the lake down.....
;)

Why?

I think it has shown his tenacity towards the project

I thi k that enough plants will take off in the water and along the shoreline that erosion wont be an issue. My suggestion for rock was to eliminate adding more soil to the inside of the dam. Of course, with enough plant growth, that might give anybody who slides into the water a way to get out too.

I don't anticipate erosion being a problem. Were talking pond not a lake despite the thread name and have really good soil. I think the only thing rock would help with once I finish up the dam would be to prevent tunneling from muskeats and the like. And yes I do have some experience draining. Now that the 10" line is in draining the pond will be pretty easy. I have a small trash pump that could be used to quickly fill the dry side of the overflow to start the siphon.

Jeremy, we've got an inch of snow and it's still coming down.

Some mixed precipitation here all day. Rain into tomorrow and slight chance Wed. Takes a lot longer to dry up with the cold temps. I'm hoping it's dry enough to work next week.

That right there would be my luck!!!!

This project has exceeded anything I envisioned in the beginning.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that it exceeds anything the OP envisioned in the beginning. It sure has been an interesting project to follow, and probably was/is even more interesting to build.

Yep, never planned on it being able to hold fish. Seemed like every foot higher on the dam I figured why not one more. The dam finally got to a height were it made the decision to stop easy. Each additional foot now takes a huge amount of dirt.

Rain today through tomorrow. After that the forecast is clear as far as it goes out. Will be leaving Friday a short vacation and back Monday so I'm hopeful that I will be able to wrap up the dam when I get back. Until then, wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
