Best way to remove that extra oozing grease?

My friend who bought my last tractor to this day still kids me that every grease joint had a little extra. Of course he is the same type of owner who regularly waxes the machine so I took his comments with a grain of salt.
I must be really getting old because now every time I get on the tractor I'm looking at that extra grease, especially on the fel. So I got some paper towels and tried to remove the excess. I succeeded in making a small mess by spreading around. Ended up using turpentine on the towels to get it off.
Is there a clean way to do this? Something more effective that turpentine?
I've always greased until I see it coming out some. . .

The easiest way I have found is to just leave it up to Mother Nature and "gravity" to clean up the oozing grease globs.

And the second easiest way to remove that extra oozing grease is to trade your tractor in and buy a new tractor.

I haven't tried it yet, but WD-40 is good for removing grease on other items, should be no different here. Stuff is not a lasting lubricant (awful in my opinion), but serves well for grease removal and a half way decent rust preventative.

Actually put on a vinyl glove wipe it down with finger and final wipe with paper towel... Don't have to get all of it just most of it....For me mother nature just adds more dirt to the excess.... Also watch when greasing, when you se start to see old grease bulge the means new grease is just under it....

Really beginning to thing I need to get a "Lock-N- Lube"...

Don't use anything that will wash the grease out of the joint. I just leave mine, it is a tractor.

That's because it's more of a solvent and not a lubricant..

The new stuff they came up with would work better for lubrication.. the "specialist spray gel"

AND, never wear new or clean clothes while anywhere near your tractor!

Starting fluid for fresh stuff.
Easy-Off oven cleaner for the caked on, baked on stuff. Easy off is not kind to paint if left on, btw.

I leave it on because the excess grease is like an additional seal, keeping water and dust out of the joint.

I wipe the excess off with gloves on, and if I'm feeling particularly neat I'll clean up grease on the paint with WD-40 and a rag. I don't use any solvents or cleaners near the actual grease point though.
