Stocks or a brokerage also need to hear from holders every couple of years to prevent dormancy & escheating. Voting your proxy can work to keep you active.

Thank you for posting... I’ve run into problems when checks written out not promptly cashed or when I arrive at teller window to withdraw and told 2500 cash is too much and need to call 3 business days in advance...

So far bank check fee waived when I ask for cash and they don’t have it...

At one time the special account paid much better interest but now pennies...

I've never had a reason to withdraw more than about $500 in my entire life. And I think that's just if we want cash on vacation.

All larger purchases are either credit card, debit card, personal check, or cashier's check, then paid off before interest is due.

I never knew about the transaction limits until my wife told me about them about 10 or so years ago when on-line banking was taking off. She works at a financial institution. She did most of our banking at the teller on her lunch hour, as she was right there in the building.

It's kind of a double edged sword being married to someone that works at a financial institution. On the one hand, you never have to go there, as the spouse does most of the banking. On the other hand, if you do happen to do any of the financial chores associated with married life, and you happen to mess something up due to confusing rules and policies at said institution, your loving spouse turns into a banker who might lecture you on why your thoughts on how said institution SHOULD operate are flawed, and it's your fault for not doing it correctly.

Some of you folks lament dealing with the bank occasionally. I've been living with the bank for 42 years.
