Also noteworthy that very seldom would a 5’ round bale weigh 2000lbs. Never seen anything close to that.
It would have to be soaking wet to weigh 2000lbs.
Ive made about 20,000 super dense 4x5’s in the last 10 years and they were about 950-1050lbs average. Even if it was a 5x5 round bale, it might weigh 1300.

2000 lbs is what my dense 4x4x8 square bales weigh.
If your loader can pick up 1200-1500 lbs, you’ll be fine moving any dry 4x5 bale and almost any dry 5x5 bale.
Fully agree. I think most of the 5’ bales here are in the 5-800lb range if I were to guess. I can roll them around fairly easy by hand but they make the MX grunt a little to pick up. Not max it out, it just knows it’s lifting something.

What is wrong with a rear finish mower? My yard is mostly tree free. i do have tress but use a little craftsman lawnmower to go around them and the house takes all of 5 min.

A lot depends on whether we are talking about grass or alfalfa hay. Alfalfa is going to be a lot heavier in the same bale size.
Alfalfa 5’ round bales dont weigh 2000lbs.
At the most, alfalfa adds 20%.

You will get a better lawn cut with the MMM and the machine is far more maneuverable. Since your existing MMM has some broken structure, you can sell it used and buy a replacement in better shape but that does take time and chasing. If you are pretty much determined to buy a bigger tractor, an L4060 had mid PTO optional and no doubt there are some around -- ones where you do not have to fool with DEF, etc. Lots of good options if you shop around.

keep in mind you never know what the future will bring you might want to work your land, the other farmer might stop doing hay or you might not want him to do hay on your land anymore and will want or have to do your own so having enough pto hp for a bailer could be advantageous or get you out of a bind just saying there is nothing worse having to find hay for your animals at the end of the hay season.

No DEF needed in any tractor that the OP should look at. DPF yes.
