Hydraulic pump TC 29 New Holland

Need help with hydraulics not working. Is the pump bad or do I have other issues? The hydraulic pump is real noisy when I try to lift and takes a minute to start lifting 3 point hitch.

Let's start with basic stuff first, it the fluid at the right level? What's the condition of the fluid? Good? Bad? Changed recently? And the hydraulic filter? Has it been changed? Screen cleaned? If has one.

I have check led fluid and changed filter and oil. I was getting a terrible noise when I first started tractor but would get better when warm. Now lift doesn’t work but every once in a while

Any rubber hoses on the pump inlet line? If yes check these for any signs of cracks. Noisy pump generally indicates pump is being starved of oil or cavitating.

I used a new holland filter with travelers universal hydraulic fluid from tractor supply.

thanks 1 rubber hose From the oil filter to pump could have a small leak.

I hope at least your machine is gear drive if your useing that fluid. This machine does have wet brakes and possibly a pto wet brake and I wouldnt be useing anything but NH fluid. It's about $90 for 5gal but cheaper than parts.

TS travelers universal hydraulic fluid usually runs a bit heavier in viscosity that the NH OEM fluid. Works well in warm/hot weather.

Cheap TSC fluid usually equates to issues down the road. You get what you pay for in life and being cheap usually results in expensive repairs later on. Never purchased any and don't plan on it either.

Was there any sign of water in the oil? When mine went it did the same thing. Took it to the dealer and he replaced the pump.

Hydraulic oil has no standard 3rd party checks like the API for engine oil. In hydraulic oil the manufacturer specs the weight and additives. So anyone can claim its equivalent but theres no one to do the checks and balances.

Yes just drained it and looked like pieces of cast metal.

Unfortunately, yes. Water in hydraulic fluid kills the pump. Metal shavings in the fluid is a telltale sign of damage. Someone smarter than me has to help you with diagnosis. But if you ask me your pump is shot. Good luck.
