Only thing the local TSC has here is 'Traveller' and I ain't buying that junk. Menards is the bomb. Too bad they dropped the 11% rebate. Understandable. Rimes are tough.

Why compare Amsoil small engine oil to T6,
Amsoil Diesel 5W-40 and Rotella T6 5W-40 would be a more valid comparison.

It wasn't just Amsoil engine oil, it was their 5W-40 ATV/UTV oil and their 10-30 4 stroke power equipment oil. Amsoil made a big deal of the additive package in both oils having "superior acid fighting and detergent packages." Upon examination, Rotella T6 5W-40 was superior in all areas, in most areas by quite a margin. Not to mention the T6 was much cheaper. Diesel oils naturally have a better acid fighting package, (TBN) and detergent package because of the inherit soot that diesel engines contaminate their oil with. You can't run the diesel oil in a gas engine with a catalytic converter or you will kill it in short order.

Interesting comment in as much as I use T6 in every engine I own and have for years. I don't believe in purchasing different oils, never have. My wife's van has 190K on it and the cat is just peachy.

I'm just repeating what it said in the email from Shell Oil when I asked them about using in in gas engines with catalytic converters. If it works for you, great. I'm not that lucky so I'm not going to try, and the vehicle I wanted to use it in I no longer own.

I will not be purchasing T6 I will be purchasing
Valvoline because the specs approx the same and
its $20 less than T6 at TSC and with the temps
in the 90's & 100"s 5W40 works for me

I can remember back in the 60's I wanted 10W30
and they put straight 20W in the back I didn't check
and when I went to change oil I had already drained
and filter off so added the 20W big mistake the next
morning the temp was -10 degrees and it wouldn't
even grunt! Our car calls for 10W20 but I do believe I will be using 10W30 pure synthetic

Menards drops the 11% every year. They change over from the 11% to holiday sales. That period is Christmas, New Years, President's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter. I think the 11% comes back in March.

Maybe, maybe not. So far it's not. Don't really matter a lot. when you factor in sales tax, the 'rebate' drops tp 6% anyway.

I ran t6 5w40 in a 09 accord that was burning 2qts every 1,000mi. I changed the oil about every 1,000mi and did that for about 7-10k. T6 actualy fixed the oil consumption issues I was having and have since changed to 5w30 and wont be 1qt low in 4,000mi. I have the same cat on the car they sold it with in 2009.
