Where did you acquire your diesel storage tank?

FB marketplace?

New fabricator?

Diesel supply company?

Found on the side of the road?

Mine is 100 gal. Think I got it from Northern. Really wanted a 350 gal tank on a platform so I could get free delivery but everything I saw used either looked like a rust risk or was priced too high or too far away. GL with your search.

I ordered my 108 gallon aluminum diesel tank on Amazon.
I built a pallet for it, and also set the pallet on a heavy low profile cart to move it around in the barn.

Took down some trees for a guy in exchange for the tank. It was brand new. He had never used it. If you're looking for a source for tanks, there are lots of options. I have a local place I would go to but if I was looking to get it at a national chain, I'd probably go to Home Depot. Search Results for fuel tank at The Home Depot

My 500 gallon came from my fuel supplier (I bought it) and the 120 in the back of the truck came from Northern Tool, way back when. My 500 is totally self contained, even has a built in spill berm. The one in the truck bed is diamond plate aluminum. I'd never buy a used tank. You never know what was in it or if there is junk in the bottom.

Bought two 50 gallon diesel tanks off CL, almost brand new, for $50@. That was about 2015 or so. Inspection with a flashlight showed them clean but empty when I bought them.

I have a wheeled 35 gallon fuel caddy and it’s great in the shop and for fueling but not so handy for hauling to have filled. I’m really thinking about getting a truck bed slim tank and mounting it to the front of my flatbed trailer. Easy to haul in for filling and a good fueling station at home.

How much diesel do you go through in a year? I graduated from 5 gallon cans to four 12 1/2 gallon flow fast containers to an overhead 300 gallon tank. About 1000 gallons a year across three diesel tractors and a gator. Fueling from the overhead tank is a dream. There is no delivery charge from the fuel supplier and they put in the additives that I need. I would give that some consideration. I picked up a used tank and stand for 500 bucks, had it cleaned out and sandblasted and repainted and put it on a concrete pad. Fully plumbed with good quality hoses and filters. I am into it for about 1500 bucks. The convenience is priceless.

I fill my 100 gal tank about 3 times a yr. It's a pain but beats 5gal cans. I transfer with a 12v pump and nozzle like at the gas station. I have a small battery I use or I can connect to 12v terminals I put on the front of the tractor

Did you weld the pallet sleeves on, or were they already part of the tank?

I did weld 2 pieces of 6" channel on the bottom of the tank for the forklift. Once at home I put it on a low dolly that securely cradles the tank so I can push it around where needed in the barn.

I had a 50 gallon tank off a reefer but it was rigged up to say the least. I found this tank on sale at Lowe’s for $200.

I’ve had my tractor for a yearish and used about 250 gallons so far.

5 gallon cans are becoming a huge pain in the ass

Would this be a terrible purchase?

I don’t know but I have been eyeballing those also. I need a 50 gallon size because I don’t think my tractor would lift a 100 gallon one out the back of my pickup.

Looks pretty good to me. Note as somebody else raised the question of weight 116 gal of diesel will weigh about 824 pounds plus the weight of the tank and equipment. Unknown.
I load and unload my 100 gal tank into the pickup with a forklift. Alternatively you could mount the tank on a small HD trailer and eliminate unloading the heavy tank.

Found my first tank on CL back in 2013. It had 12 volt transfer pump. Was used with gas. I drained and left upside down for a few days. Added a few gallons of diesel to slosh around and run through the pump. Added a filter and filled up. It's a 52 gallon L tank. It's all my little loader will lift off the truck when filled!
Now have 100 gallon in 3500. Haven't really used the 52 in about a year. Where you located? Would be looking to move it on.
