Are ATVs/UTVs overpriced?

I agree, the gadgets really drive up the price. Same way with new trucks, a top of the line truck can almost double the price over the base model, same exact body and engine but all the gadgets double it's price. And people pay that which blows my mind!
Our Outlander max model came with a winch, brush guard, hand sheild and the larger engine. We added a gadget of heated grips. What did the max version come with that we didn't want?

It had the 84 month payment plan on it
I live near the bottom of a forest service road that is popular with the recreational sxs crew, Im constantly blown away by the quantity of these rigs and all the accessories they strap onto them. But like you said zero to little down, a semi-ok job, and willingly taking a 7~10 year loan. Then they all think they are a rally driver on day one.

"Then they all think they are a rally driver on day one." - that is the truth. Im in WV where SxS. ATVs are a normal form of transportation. We have people coming here from all around the country to ride the trails (Hatfield and McCoy). The problem is there are also a fair amount of accidents, almost always related to speed, drinking, or both. They do not realize if you hit a turn too hot in the mountains it can be a LONG LONG way to the bottom...

We get similar here, except few will go on the actual trails through the wood. Mostly too narrow for sxs . They just ride the county (gravel) roads at high speed. Never considering that the locals drive 60+ on many of these roads in trucks and cars. We get some pretty nasty head on collisions and the trucks win. That or they try to get out of the road and pile into a tree or fence.

In todays hyper inflationary economy, even a package of ground chuck is overpriced. At some point something has to give and I predict it will be the economy in general and the reset will be either deflation or outright depression.

The inflation spiral has to end at some point and again, I feel that point isn't that far in the future either. All one has to do is look at credit card debt and at defaulted on loans to get a good feel for what is about to occur.

I see the major credit card providers just raised their outstanding balance rates to over 25%. No way can anyone ever pay off an outstanding balance at those rates and don't tell me that everyone on here pays off their outstanding balances every month because I know that is a lie.

We do but we also manage our buying habits carefully. Somehow I don't believe that is the norm today anywhere and on here as well.
Well, you are not as smart as you think you are when it comes to CC balances. I do, and have paid off mt CC balances every month for at least 18 or so years. Even when we buy something high priced, $5K OR MORE...

I never considered myself as smart but I am financially frugal. Had 73 years to perfect my regimen.

I would consider myself frugal as well. Only buy what I need, with exceptions, buy it on sale, pay off at end of month, collect points to redeem to "buy" other items. If I don't pay interest, I am not losing money in the way of being in debt.

You only get credit, for credit, if the balance is over by 31 days.

If you pay it off each month, you forgo the rewards and the benefit to build credit.

Moral of the story, pay off every 35 days of each aged bill. Most times only a good account with a good staff can manage this.

I'm ok with my credit rating, it is borderline excellent.
My CC charges for a whole months interest if not paid in full by due date. I've messed up a couple of times over the years, they were happy to refund all charges.
I do realize the importance of good credit, lower insurance rates is what many don't know. There are more perks, as you are aware...

I am realizing that there are reasons people cannot afford to live or retire. They buy expensive stuff... A lot of it.
Just had this conversation with Director of Nursing who said I’m well off…

He takes the family to Europe and Hawaii every year… new Tesla and 3 BMW cars bought new plus loaded Honda family van and makes much more that I do.

I drove the same $800 Plymouth bought in High School 22 years and still have it…

What he paid for cars and vacations would have bought a duplex.

I’m frugal and never carried a CC Balance…
