The carrot is amazingly strong. This and a 3ft breaker bar through hole is the only way to hold them to unscrew them.

I see guys use either a carrot or Chinese finger traps. The carrots last a lot longer, but I don't know your experience; but if you say deal with 1.25 Dr13.5, 1.5" dr9, 2" dr13.5, ect, ect; you start needing to carry a lot of them. That really is just an issue for the guys that might do a 2" water service on Monday, a 3" gas on Tuesday, 2-2" telecoms on Wednesday and 3-1.25" telecoms on Thursday.

There is one newer fiber provider doing a larger install, and I thought it very odd, 2-1.5" and 1-1". Dealt with many that do 3-1.25, or 2-2"; but never one that mixes sizes in a single bore.

Last Thursday I watched a 160lf 8" HDPE water main; took like 4 hours to spot all the utilities, and maybe 3 hours to push out, pre-ream, push out again, and ream-pull pipe.

👍
The first duckbill was for sand/clay. I think I lost those teeth on the first drill in PA. lol.

This the best dirt I’ve seen here. Most is more rocky. I’ll get a picture later some are basketball sized.

We aren't really supposed to share pictures taken at work, because technically, they aren't ours. However, the Google Earth car drove by, and I pulled the street view up. I believe this one is 16" HDPE at 700LF, behind a 22" reamer. Got a 12" steel, at 4000lf coming up next week.

I’ve just started back drilling this week. Was too cold for a few weeks, single digits to teens.
