Anyone have a MechMaxx 3-pt stump grinder?

I used my Mechmaxx last night to grind out a 31" oak stump, and two 6" ones - worked great, no complaints at all.

To anybody on the fence about getting the MechMaxx stump grinder, they just dropped the price $400.
To anybody that already bought one for $1800 I feel your pain.

Wow! Good lookin' out, thanks for sharing the news.
Hmmmm, is it time to commit? If not now, when would I ever.

Edit: I did it, joining the club soon. Got the extra pack of replacement carbide teeth, but not the rear camera or outdoor cover.

One of the most recent reviews on their page says they got a partial refund by reaching back out to mechmaxx after the sale started. Which is pretty nice since they really have no obligation to do such.

I reached out since the price change was less than 2 weeks after arrival date.
They offered to ask the company to credit me back $100 IF I would give a positive review. :cautious:

New to the site... been reading/lurking on the site for some time now. Lots of great information. Recently I've started looking at the WG24 Stump grinder by MechMaxx. I've learned alot on the site... but was curious about one specific question which I was hoping I could get help with. My DK50SE is a 50hp.... the WG24 states it's rated for 15-45hp? Does anyone believe the extra 5hp would cause an issue? I know WM sells the larger 28 model but it also comes with a higher price. Thoughts?

LittleBill21 BTW-thanks for your review of the item...

I run mine with a 90 pto horse Kubota, Just set the slip clutch properly. I might add I bought the hydraulic swing stump grinder a while ago (couple years ago actually) and it does a really good job plus the teeth supplied with it are indexable to 3 different cutting positions and I have not had to replace them yet (after numerous hardwood stumps of all diameters. Reason why I bought that one versus the model discussed on here is the fact that it grinds the stumps to 9" below grade so it's easier to cover them up and plant grass on top. It's a bit more in cost but still less than half the cost of an Erskine or Land Pride and it's extremely similar. I did add 2 100 pound suitcase weights, one on each side on the front frame to give it more stability. Cannot remember how long it took to arrive as it was a while ago but I think it was 6 weeks or so. No issues with it at all and it eats stumps right up, especially with 80 pto horses on tap.

Got a shipment notice today that shows it actually started moving in California yesterday. Next day shipment from California and projected arrival in one week flat. Pretty rad.

Like others in here, it will probably take me some weeks to get it uncrated, set up and try it out. Need to repair my driveway with loads of new gravel and the landplane first.

Always fun to find presents on the loading dock.

And to have an excuse to keep my forklift operator's license valid.

Nice packaging, externally anyway. Hopefully my extra carbide teeth are in the box? hmmmm

they won't be, should be a separate shipment

Anybody use one on a manual transmission tractor? I know that hydrostatic is ideal, but I don't have one.

I 100% would say you hate it, I make constant adjustments in speed using it. your going to burn up a clutch slipping it enough to be usable

I run mine (though it's different than yours), I have the model with hydraulic swing and depth on my gear drive Kubota but I use the one with the optional creep gears and and I run it in low creep... and I have no clutch as mine is hydraulic shuttle, ie; wet pack.

Agreed - it woul be VERY difficult to use with a no hydro because that controls your cut

I agree as well and why I use the Kubota with the creep gears when grinding stumps. No dry clutch is also a benefit.

My stump grinder works perfectly on my AGCO with "creep" transmission, no clutch slipping or any other problems at all.

My 790 has pretty deep low range gears. I think that I could manage it.

Never said it could not be done, but a lot more difficult. Without a hydro swing, you are stuck controlling the cut with the transmission. I ground a 45" oak out today and had to go up and over it at odd angles and without a hydro, it would be a real challenge. Some spots it would be taking a nice bite, but then as I rolled over it, the stump grinder would change heights due to the position of the wheels, so I would have to slow to a stop and readjust. That would be tough with a gear drive without having to clutch often.

Same deal with the Kubota with creep gears. I believe at rated rpm, my ground speed in low creep is like 1/10th mph, maybe even less. Have a speed chart on the side window so I could look, but never do. Clutch issue is nonexistent as it has no clutch anyway. Multiplate wet clutch, only way to fly in my view.

I guess if you have never ran a grinder with "creep" trans you really don't know for sure. I have BOTH types of trans, and I much prefer to grind stumps with my above AGCO with creep.

I've ground some huge oaks, but I've never found not having the whinner trans to be a "real challenge".

I honestly was referring to the normal Kubota's, Deers, and similar-style compact tractors and transmissions.
