Who rides motorcycles?

Dang!
Yesterday I rode over to order out a replacement front tire for the VFR. Call it a 30 mile loop.
Today I used the pickup to "pick up" the new tire because I also needed to make a run to the recycling. 4 trash cans full plus a bunch of flattened cardboard.
Well, in the time of that one day, the shop took in a two year old CT125 Trail bike. We often remember them as "Trail 90's". That's a bike I have "wanted" for quite some time. Had one a long way back, and enjoyed it.

The dealer threw out a price that is only off of new price by a fraction, but,,,,, we will see ;-)

Buy the new one. My first bike was a 6 month old 1966 Yamaha Twin Jet 100 that I bought for $300.00 when a new one would have been $375.00. I will never make that mistake again. After a few repairs, I discovered the difference in price was too little.

Availability may influence my sense of value. But there is little hope of a sale on a second hand bike for the same cost as new, with dealer full support. (Warranties tend to time out on these low mile cream puffs.)

Besides, It only has a single seat....My wife doesn't like that. (But she likes the step through frame.

I just might need to hold out for the Vespa GTS

I agree. Buy the new one. It would have to be an old collectable to fetch same as new price.

The sales gal texted me with the comment that "pricing is based on the average selling price of the same model in our area.

To form an average, that would imply that some area sales EXCEEDED the price of a new bike.
New list is 4,099, this 2022 used creampuff is 3995 "out the door".

"A hundred dollars ain't much distance, I don't think it makes much difference. I don't think I'll buy that bike no more...."

You know they didn't give that much for trade in. If you want it, offer $3ish, then let them text you. There is no warranty etc.

I bought a new F350 last October. Other than mine is a supercab and the ads are for a crew cab, lots,of dealers are asking more for their used ones than I paid for new.

I have been s-l-o-w-l-y resurrecting a 1952 BSA M33 from a 60+ year slumber. Had it running last year, but there were a lot of demons that needed cast out. Seems I finally have scared off the last demon, have 101 trouble free miles this spring. Last outing was to the local BMW dealer who once was a BSA dealer.

I am really enjoying the relaxed pace this bike gives. And surprisingly competent on 2 lane roads for a 73 year old motorcycle.

Yes, bikes are not efficient transportation.....

She's a beauty Rich, but you must have to allow extra time for every Stop..... everybody will want to talk to you about it !

I totally get the back-roads/relaxed ride vibe..... I'm getting a hit, just from the pic .

Rich B1, I've been wondering what you've been up to. That is a beauty. I am a fan of thumpers, but also a fan of most all bikes.

Wondering how the vibration is on that thing? My friend has ridden the Husky 701 thumper, and he says it hardly has any vibration. IIRC, The engine in that bike is now only sold by GasGas as an On/Off road bike.

Here's a question to all, if the EPA's rules were retracted for motorcycles, and they could build 2 strokes again, would any of y'all crave one? I want an RZ500 with modern technology. Or better yet, make it a 750. :)

Also wouldn't mind a Bultaco or Ossa super pioneer type bike, with electric start.
