Humorous? On a somewhat humorous side, if and when I find something, someone may see a 3/4 ton truck pulling a tandem 20' deck over hauling a tractor weighing less than a ton.
Well than, Sure am glad I've got a half dozen 3/8" chain and bindersHumorous?
There should be a 3/4-ton (or better) in front of even an empty 20' trailer, I think.
Yeah it’s hysterical.Humorous?

I certainly hope they used a 4 point tie down on that Tonka.Well than, Sure am glad I've got a half dozen 3/8" chain and binders![]()
Mowing, moving snow ,maintaining a small driveway and making wood occasionally when I'm making wood I'll probably mostly use it for transport and push small limbs or slash I guess that's what experienced sawyers call it?That you mention the jobs you wish to do, I’d have the criteria of how easy it is drop and mount the mower deck.
The brand is superfluous except that it meets your criteria the best.
Secondly, if it’s important to you, I’d want to consider capacity capabilities of loader and or 3 point.
Another consideration since I sell the things. Be careful if you plan to bring a scut into the woods.Mowing, moving snow ,maintaining a small driveway and making wood occasionally when I'm making wood I'll probably mostly use it for transport and push small limbs or slash I guess that's what experienced sawyers call it?
in the ravines. I somewhat graded the hillside and trenched the utilities in yrs ago when I was building and had my old L 2850 up there further graded and pushed in a few trails in a larger area when I had my 326 up there. Nothing beats a steel tracked skid steer for what I was doing imo btw.
Or 17k + trailer weight? According to the tags on it using a pintle hitch setup. I don't think some recognize the important value of a modern heavier duty diesel pickup trucks exhaust brake and the difference it actually makes to stop or going down steeper grades when your hauling heavy.Yeah it’s hysterical.
A 20’ 5 ton trailer weighs less than 2500 lbs.
What ppl fail to know that even if it states it’s a 5 ton capacity, it really should only hold 7000 lbs.
You wanna hold more than that then get a 7 ton.
An empty trailer such as this is no big deal to pull and stop.
I mostly have weights on the trailer averaging 8000 lbs.+ trailer. The 3/4 ton Chevy with the 6.1 does an excellent job in all aspects.Or 17k + trailer weight? If buying new, I’d go to my closest dealer saying the dealer is solid.I'll look at Massey's gc line if I see one come up, pretty set on orange or green though mostly from experiences with older ones.
Hauling 17k on my trailer with my truck is violating something, somewhere I believe even with a CDL. However I bought that trailer knowing I'd never need a bigger one.I mostly have weights on the trailer averaging 8000 lbs.+ trailer. If I was indeed hauling 17,000 lbs, I’d have gone diesel even with the $10,000 premium for the engine.
That seems to be the case more and more, with CUT's. Even my 3-series, which sits reasonably high, has a huge fuel filter housing mounted ridiculously low and outside the frame rails. They hid it behind the front axle, which offers some degree of protection, but it sure would have been nice if they'd found a way to tuck it completely above something metal, and between the frame rails.Another consideration since I sell the things. Their ground clearance is really not meant for woods work.
Customers have had several expensive fixes as a result even when told exactly what Im telling you.
JD doesn't offer loader-mounted snow blades for the smaller CUT's (like 1 and 2 series) presumably because they don't think the loader structure is up to the stresses. You can get aftermarket (Curtis) loader-mounted snow blades that will work on them and some people on here have them. I have not heard of anyone having a problem with them, except that the smaller tractors aren't heavy enough to use them - they wind up being pushed sideways by the blade set way out front. Also thinking a smaller qa snow plow or pusher mounted on loader arms seasonally in place of bucket is probably what I'll go with eventually. Also assuming I need third function to rotate blower shoot or angle a plow?
