This has probably been hashed to death, but... Recently replaced both filters. Well, a friend did the actual lower one as I can't really get down in there with the mower on, thanks to back problems. Anyway, fairly easy to replace the one up near the engine, --- once you get the engine side covers off---. But, within just a couple engine hours, those filters are clogged again! I bought a larger see-through (glass?) filter that bolts onto the side near the left foot pedal, at least that's where it will fit.
Have any of you guys had that issue with the filters clogging so quickly?
Aside, I also installed the "coffee filter solution" under that fuel filler cap to help prevent even more trash getting into the tank. However, seems to me that the WallyWorld diesel is the source of the junk, but I can't prove it.
There are some YT videos about replacing the tiny, cheap, plastic fuel filters with the larger, see-through variety and while I'm fairly mechanically inclined, I just don't get how to mount it.
(And btw, 5'8ths fuel line is now a thousand dollars an inch from all local vendors!) So, there is that problem, too.
The only thing I don't like about this larger water separator/filter is that I wasn't paying attention when I ordered it and it doesn't have a drain petcock. And, can't figure out if the glass(?) is a screw-off type or not. I put a kinda low amount of torque on it but it would not budge. This is fresh out of the box.
Any advice is welcomed. Kibitzing is also appreciated.

Thanks.

I know you already bought a filter, but you can't beat Racor separator filters. You may want to take a look at them.
I put one on my (not BX) tractor several years ago. There are several threads here on TBN about installing them on the BX tractors.
The easiest method I have found to remove the bowl is to use a rubber strap wrench

Rj sir where do you get that Racor filter. Do they come big enough for a bulldozer

This is how I mounted mine. I spent a bunch of time trying different places and this is about the only place that works. It replaced the rear filter, so you have to run a fuel line up to this location, then back again to the back where the little fuel pump is. Not near as bad as it sounds. Then the little filter up by the engine stayed in place. This is a Racor filter setup but it doesn’t have to be that brand.

I no longer own the tractor and the JD I own now still has one of those little filters but then the second one is a decent one in a filter bowl. Those little one are pretty crappy.

I bought (2) 215r Racors at "The Racor Store" I believe. They come in all sizes, at least up to 250 gallons per hour. The 215r series is 15 gallons per hour, as is the smaller sized 120 series (I think).
