Solved Building Electrical Breaker Tripping.

On the inspection report of the new house I'm buying, they had 2 dings on the wiring to the well pump. The electrician had used oversized aluminum wire between the CB and the pump control box, due to the distance, which isn't an issue. The terminals on each end were listed for aluminum wire.
But:
  1. They failed to use aluminum wire antioxidant paste on the wire ends.
  2. They trimmed the number of strands so the wire would fit in the terminals

That's an impressive inspection.

I have aluminum wires to my house and the bottle of antioxidant that I used 20 years ago is still sitting on my shelf. A little goes a long way, and there is nothing else to use it on.

They ALWAYS need to find something, but that should be a relatively easy, low cost fix...

It is, and we didn't even include it in our punch list, as well as a number of other piddling things. It's amazing some of the things they'll find. Apparently, it's now code (we're grandfathered) that doors from a living space into a garage must be self-closing, but we won't be doing that. I can't think of a bigger pain in the butt than trying to get into the house with armloads of groceries and fighting with a door that keeps trying to close on you.

We did ask that they have the HVAC inside and outside coils cleaned and some insulation added to the HVAC p-traps, where they were condensing in the attic and dripping on the floorboard. Also, performed a general HVAC inspection that showed they both needed new start kits, with out of spec capacitors and scorching on the contactors.

Thats an easy fix. My dog stays by the door as we bring in groceries, and she noses the door open as we approach the door. She does this all the time.

Our dog is more likely to slam it shut on us and lock us out. I've heard stories of people's dogs locking them out of their car or truck.:)

Same here, plus I have a keypad on the pillar. My previous yellow black mouth cur used to love to ride with me. As soon as he heard the jingle of my keys, he'd stand next to my truck door.

When I'd get out at a store, he'd move over and sit in the driver's seat, looking like he was driving. I walked out of a store many times and someone would be laughing and taking a picture of him. Something about his yellow fur and black eyebrows and muzzle that gave him almost a human quality at first glance, making folks do a double take.

My little guy comes over and stands on the lock button! Once had to walk 1/4 mile back to house to get extra key! Now have spare key hidden on truck to get in. Can't start truck with the key anyway, just unlocks the door and sets off the alarm! Need the fob to kill alarm and start truck.
