Brand new Husqvarna blower bogs down at dies at WOT

Just bought this a few days ago from Lowe's. Unboxed it today, read the manual and all instructions, assembled it, mixed some fresh 91 octane (ethanol-free) and 2-cycle oil, and fired it up. Fires up great, idles fine. I've never had a blower before, but it seems to have adequate power at...

    Best motorcycle forum?

Any suggestions on which motorcycle forum to join? I'm in the market for a used Harley Davidson Road King or Yamaha Road Star. I've had a few other bikes, but they were always newer, low mileage bikes. I don't know how many miles one can realistically expect from a V-twin. Is a 25,000 mile bike...

    L3540 losing power

Was mowing today and noticed that the tractor wouldn't achieve much speed in M low or M high. RPMs would bog way down when peddle was pressed. Giving more throttle didn't help. In fact, tractor seemed slightly starved for fuel. Idle was around 500 RPMs rather than the usual 800 or so. Full...

    BX25 digging in rocky soil?

Here in SW Missouri we have some very rocky soil. Can anyone with experience with a BX or similar tractor share their thoughts on digging in rocky soil using either the backhoe or loader?

Pocket knives: number of back springs

My Buck stockman-style pocket knives have three springs (one per blade), and my Old Timer stockman knives have two springs. I've been unable to discover the purpose behind using two or three springs. It does not seem to effect the function of the blades. Are there any pros and cons between...

Overheating after mowing steep side slope

I had a scary experience mowing a side slope when the low-side front and rear tires sank into the soft side hill, creating a much steeper grade than I would have tried to mow. Over the course of several minutes, I carefully and slowly maneuvered to a safer position. Five or 10 minutes later...

    Fishing Gear Advice

Hi all, My lady loves fishing, but neither of us know much about it. I want to surprise her next month with poles and tackle for each of us. I live two miles away from a pretty good public fishing access on Shoal Creek. Does anyone have advice on a decent rod/reel combo that will get used a few...

    PICTURES ONLY thread

I love this thread. Blue tractors always look good. TSO, what is the story with the golf balls? Is that your picker-upper? Why is it on the FEL? You guys would just crap your pants with envy if I posted a picture of my tractor here, (;););)), so I took this from the LS website.

    Don't even need a disc!

All I need to do is plow and then back drag with my ratchet rake. It smooths and breaks up the clods, and drags off the trash. The ground is a little compressed, but it still responds to a hoe easily. This will do until I find a disc for cheap, which may be never!

    King Kutter Disc

Opinions on a 6.5' King Kutter disc? New for $799. Angle iron frame. Scalloped discs in front, smooth in back. 20 discs total. Discs are 16" (i think). Most used discs I've found have been around this same price, and mostly well used condition. This would be used for a half acre garden that is...

How to level limestone/gravel floor indoors

Hi all, I'm looking for suggestions and advice on my little barn. As you can see, my tractor will not fit. The inside is open space except for two vertical beams in the center. The whole barn is approx. 20 x 30. The floor inside is dirt and probably 100 year old chicken poop. I want to...

Everything Attachments Pallet Forks Order Experience (with pictures!!!!)

I recently purchased the Everything Attachments Compact Pallet Forks by Ansung Everything Attachments Compact Pallet Forks Manufactured. I emailed a few questions about these forks and called to order, and spoke with the same person I had emailed. It took about five minutes to order over the...

    Seven foot disc deal?

Seven foot disc, $600. Good price? Also, is it a good match for my tractor to pull it through my rocky soil? 4x4, 37 hp, about 5,000 lbs http://joplin.craigslist.org/grd/3571897597.html

Broken zerk -- can't get it out

Well, I broke a grease zerk on my loader. It is on the pin right near the QA point. It sits down in there a little. It broke off flush and smooth against the surrounding metal. There is nothing for a socket to grab. I tried using a "Grabit" damaged screw remover, didn't work. I tried a very...

    Refinishing hardwood floors

Hi guys, I figured this would be a good topic to bounce off the TBN crowd. My house has mostly hardwood floors. Some of these floors are pretty old and worn. A couple spots look like a kid intentionally carved geometric shapes into it. I am ready to refinish the floors and get them looking...

How do I fix my plow?

First pic shows how it is broken. Second pic shows where the pin goes. So I just need a hardened steel bolt?

How do I fix my plow?

The shear pin broke on my plow. I've tried two more bolts but they instantly shear when the plow starts to dig. What do I put in there that won't break?

    When to plow?

I'm planning to expand my garden next year. I want to plow this fall so hopefully the freezes (if we get any) will kill the grass seeds. I live in SW MO and it's still getting into the mid 70s each day. When should I plow?

Would you buy this just for the heck of it?

Atlas 7' box blade with rippers, says it's in great shape. $300. I don't really need a box blade right now but heck, I could probably double my money on it, right? Or it would make a great counterweight until if/when I ever need a BB.

Help me check front axle fluid :)

Have read on here that the front axle fluid is sometimes low when new. Have almost 10 hours on the new beast and want to make sure mine is fine. According to the manual, there is no dipstick, just a drain plug, a fill plug, and a check plug. So am I correct in assuming that to check the level...

How to pick blackberries and not get eaten alive

My worst childhood memory is after spending a day picking blackberries. My sister and I were just covered in bites and absolutely miserable for the next few days. Yesterday I thought I'd pick some blackberries, so I put on long pants and sleeves, soaked myself in deet, and set out. Thirty...

    DK loader control lever

You know the loader control lever on the DK35 (maybe other DKs, dunno) that rides annoyingly into your thigh in curl mode? It's enough to give me pause about considering the DK models for purchase. Has anyone "fixed" theirs by modifying the lever in some way or replacing it with one of those...

    Price Check  Orange Crush

Got a few quotes on Kubotas this week from Anderson Car & Tractor in Joplin, MO . The first two quotes were for tractors I have since ruled out (L3200 and B3300su). The third quote is: L3540 HST LA724 loader QA 72" bucket Bolt on cutting edge R4 tires $24,300 If I were to choose R1 tires...

Has anoyne ever traded down to a smaller tractor?

And been happier, I should add. I never come close to the limits of my tractor, and I often catch myself thinking I would trade some of its power for a few creature comforts. A smaller tractor would be nicer in the woods, too, and wouldn't be such a squeeze to fit under my shelter. This has me...

    Broke my PTO shaft

Well, I've had better days. I borrowed my dad's tiller to till my garden, and it has a teensy tiny short little pto shaft. I hooked it up to my tractor and it would barely stay on. I lengthened the top link and it tucked it in a little. It worked for one row, then right when I got...

    New (old) pickup

Well, the tractor was more of a "want," and a pickup was more of a "need." I searched and researched, and after a couple of months I wound up today buying this thing: '85 F-350 6.9L diesel (International Harvester) with a manual 4-speed. 125,000 miles and appears to run like a champ! It was...

    HST Operation

I have (and love) a gear transmission. I was thinking about hydros the other day and I was wondering how they work. My lawn mower is hydro but it's pretty simple compared to what I imagine a tractor has. My questions are: How do you manage to use steering brakes? What purpose does the clutch...

Ballast -- can you overdo it?

I just got a six foot brush hog for my Kubota L4300. I don't really need a hog this large, but it was cheap so I bought it. I finally hooked it up today and made some passes out in my "field" and I was really pleased with the results. However, this thing is HEAVY. I could have had a six...

Horse won't go away (off topic)

Monday around midnight I got home from work and a great, hairy beast was charging up my driveway at me. It was a mighty Shetland pony! Now the stupid thing has been here for 4 days and it won't go away. I've asked all the neighbors (mostly old farmers) if they know anything about it, and...

    Creative uses

One of the things that excited me most about my "new" L4300 was the unusual uses for a tractor that go beyond mowing and FEL work. I think my favorite idea I've read here so far is using the FEL bucket as an ice chest. Today I hooked up the auger that came with my tractor. Apparently it...

    New Kubota

Hi all. I looked through this forum before purchasing my first tractor, and now that I have it I thought I might as well join! I'm pretty excited about my tractor, a Kubota L4300, but I'm a complete newbie, so get ready for some newbie questions. It's nice to be here.
