Building a rock rake what should the spacing between tines

The 2" x 2" 1/4 will work great for the front part of the rake. Do you think 2" x 2" 1/4" is strong enough for the main shaft the holds the rake? Should I double it up for the main shaft? I will make it similar to this one but add side braces on the left and right.

Making a banana style trenching bucket.

All I need now is the back brackets. It is finally looking like a bucket. I broke a small ratchet strap making the curved bottom. The larger 2" 10K pounds ratchet strap was able to do the job. I hope it digs well.

@downsizingnow48 Thanks posting your experience with BXpanded bucket. I made some progress. I just need to put in the bottom some Bxpanded style teeth. Then brackets for the pins.

Making a banana style trenching bucket.

I changed the bucket style I making. I am making a bucket similar to your 6" bucket. It is long and only 6" wide. I am making it longer because it really only digs the length of the bucket and a little more. The backhoe is wider than the bucket where the thumb connects. I thinking about making...

Making a banana style trenching bucket.

I got sidetracked and welded a bucket hook on my OEM bucket. Then I built a backhoe lift attachment. This was made with 1/2" plate and top attachment was 3/8" If I did not have a QC I would not make something like this. It is so quick change it out I think it will come in handily for some...

Making a banana style trenching bucket.

These are the styles I have seen so far. 1. 2. 3. This one the guy really liked it what it could do with a tooth. 4. I have been thinking about making one like picture 1 and with a tooth like 4.

Making a banana style trenching bucket.

I am going to make a banana style trenching bucket for my MF GC 1710. It will be 4 セ ". This is as wide as the QC is that will save me making attachment brackets as a separate piece. I am going to put one backhoe bucket tooth on it I have a 156L to go on it. I will use it to but in 4 gutter...

I am making a 16" backhoe Bucket for my CG 1710

I wanted to add this incase someone searched this post. My tractor came with CB65 backhoe. They sell them with a 10" or 12" bucket but they offer a optional 16". Here is screen shot MF price book. It does look big on a sub compact but they are a strong backhoe and made to take a bigger bucket.
  102. G

Does anyone know how much a CG 1710 CB65 can lift?

I made a QA for my backhoe and now that it is so quick to swap out attachments in was considering making a lift attachment. Similar to this one out 1/2" plate.

I am making a 16" backhoe Bucket for my CG 1710

I just finished my 16" bucket. I made this a little bigger than the OEM one. 1 1/4" deeper. I did a test dig and it was working well. It will be my go-to for thumb use. My other bucket is 10". I made extra pins so I can keep one in each attachment. The QA is so useful for putting this...

I am making a 16" backhoe Bucket for my CG 1710

I used a ratchet strap to help make the round bottom. The final part I used the tractor outrigger to push down the bottom and tack weld it. That work pretty well. Now on to the brackets and then the teeth. It looks big compared to the 10" bucket. It is starting to look like a bucket.

I am making a 16" backhoe Bucket for my CG 1710

I started my 16" backhoe bucket. I have a 10" bucket now that is good for trenching. If you need to dig a decent hole the 10" bucket does not really cut it. I am going to put 4 teeth on the new bucket. The two outside teeth will angle just outside the bucket a little bit. The other two teeth...

I started my backhoe Root Ripper.

I took it out yesterday and put it to work. I think I am going to adjust the tip so the thumb will close more so I can get a better grip on smaller stuff. I have the power to rip out small stuff if I could grip it tighter. I under estimated how useful the thump would be with this. It is supper...

I started my backhoe Root Ripper.

I did a small change on the pin I take out on my QC. I welded a flag on it so you can get ahold of it to pull it out. I know the pin steel is not good for welding but this is not structural at all.

@Aquamoose That is a very nice build. It looks nicer than some of the ones I see company's selling. I went out and tried it on the fence line. I was not taking out big stuff but it worked great. Yes I did have a big smile it was fun.:) I was pleased with it so far. I only took out one stump...

I started my backhoe Root Ripper.

I slayed my first root. It was actually getting dark so I only did a very quick test. I did dig a few scoops with my backhoe just to test to quick attach. Then I swapped it for the root ripper. The swap only took a couple minutes.

I started my backhoe Root Ripper.

I made two pins so far. These pins are just a tiny bit bigger. They fit but I need to adjust my quick connector a little. I think I will chamfer the outside edges like the factory ones. I think that would help some.

Thanks so much for the advice. I just picked up 3 foot 1144 TGP $39 OTD. My local place only caries TGP but that will work for me. I will have to cut it and drill it for pins. This is enough where I can leave one pin in each backhoe attachment.

Thanks for the pin info! Here are a couple more pictures of my new QC. I need to clean up my welding/steel and put a coat of paint on it the root ripper. Once I have some pins, I can try it out the QC and the root ripper. Next up is making my 16 bucket but that is for another day.

Thanks for the measurements! I am just to the point to make the top part of the ripper. The quick connect is done. I have to say it was a lot of time making this I am glad it is done. Does anyone know where I can get some bucket pins for my quick connect, they need to be 30 mm or 1 3/16...

I needed to be able to cut steel straight. I made a hand band saw stand. It will allow me to use it like a chop saw or vertical standing saw. Strange I tried to edit my post on my phone and it deleted it. Just the how tall and long the top is and how far down from the top the pin hole is drilled. It is not a huge deal but looking at backhoe attachments they seem pretty standard. I would like to make mine similar. I am not making...

I started my backhoe Root Ripper.

I went to drill my holes for the pins and I did not realize the pins are nonstandard size. I had to order a 30 mm hole saw carbide tipped. It will be here tomorrow. My quick attach plates are all cut out 3/8" plate the same size as the original bucket brackets. I hope I have the quick attach...

Thanks for the picture very helpful. I refined the tip. I might have made it to sharp. It should give a dose of cutting at this point. I need to get some 3/8 plate I want to make a quick release to make it quick to switch between the bucket and root rake.
