Tractors and wood! Show your pics

We had a late snow storm on Friday. About 10", which is a lot for this area. That's where the tractor was parked. Got lucky. Finished cutting this up on Sunday and got the tractor out. Lost a dozen or so large oaks like this one. Going to be a lot of clean up, but I'll have firewood for about...

Questions about wood chipper on DK5310SE

You should be fine, I run the next size down on my 3510 no problem. I remove the drawbar when using PTO, just to be sure I don't hit it. Watch that punky rotten stuff. The feed roller tends to chew it up and not pull it into the chipper. Ive also found when chipping hardwoods like oak it does...

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

For me if it's over 16" it doesn't fit in the stove. I tried. I have an old broom handle I use to measure up quickly at the woodlot. and use the guess method with the chainsaw bar if bucking in the field. I also put a mark on the splitter at 16". When I split anything over 16 goes into the BBQ...

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

Maybe not. I use mostly the smaller ones, only have a couple of the larger 330 ones. Measured the area the wood occupies, not the size of the tote. I get two rows of 16" in there with some stuff tossed in the middle and I don't heap them up. I've never tried stacking a cord and then seeing how...

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

I did the calculations on what fits in my totes and it was 0.27 of a cord. So a little more than 1/4 but less than 1/3. A very nice way to move wood around, and a good way to sell portions of a cord if you so wish. I've paid $20 for some near me and also found a few for free. They also make a...

    CK2610HST Radiator Removal

If the damage isn't too bad and you have a radiator shop nearby see if they can fix it. I just had mine repaired for $150. Way better than $650 for a new one.

    CK2610HST Radiator Removal

I just pulled the radiator on my ck3510. Might be similar. I had to remove the oil cooler, the fuel cooler, and the battery. then the radiator and fan shroud are all on a frame than mounts with 4 bolts near where the battery sits. Drain the rest of the fluid and disconnect the hoses of course...

Can you help us to see the big trees in California?

If the Yosemite trees are out of reach. Just a bit north of Yosemite on Highway 4 is California Big Trees State Park. There are a couple of Sequoia groves there and some pretty large Sugar Pines as well.

Is a "hybrid" barbed wire fence more friendly to wildlife?

My opinion - I don't like working with barb wire. I would rather my animals didn't get caught up in it. If you really want to dissuade someone or something from climbing over, set up the top to be an electric fence wire. I have one around the bottom outside of the chicken pen. Keeps things from...

Is a "hybrid" barbed wire fence more friendly to wildlife?

This is what I am doing too. For about the same reasons. Except I am using barbless wire on the top. I build the corners and maybe some H-braces in the long runs. Then pull a single wire (barbless). Use that to set the rest of the t-posts other wooden posts strait. Then roll the field fence out...

Is a "hybrid" barbed wire fence more friendly to wildlife?

Depends on what you are trying to fence in/out. If just marking the boundary so the neighbors know, I might just run two barbless strands. Barbless is easier to work with and can be a little wildlife friendly. Wire spacing is almost as important as wire type, so they don't get a leg entangled...

Anyone else have stealth prop planes around their property?

Are you near an airport? I am about 1 mile from the local county airport. Some private pilots do some funny things with engine throttle on final approach.

Should a new tractor come with a full tank of gas?

Hat and a full tank. Dealer even called to let me know he might be a few minutes late because he had to go to a different station to fill it up. Good dealer = good service.

Betstco FH-EFGC155 Flail, New Hammers But Problem With Cut.

I have a wider Betstco flail, but Im guessing they are have similar setup. It appears that way in his pics in the first post. The Betstco flails are somewhat offset. The attachment points can be shifted to alternate mounting points and have even more offset, but in the standard position it is...

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

Hey Craig, I run a Betstco FH-EFG-175 with my CK3510. Thats the 68" model, it more like 75" total. No problem with PTO hp. It sits somewhat offset with the left side being right about the tire width and the right side hanging out 8-10 inches. It can be offset even more by shifting the top link...

To Chicken or not to Chicken?

I have 20 chickens. You won't break even on cost. But they are the best fresh eggs. If its just a couple of people or a small family I recommend about 3-4 chickens. They need a decent and safe coop, but they are really pretty hardy in cold temps. Unless you free range or pen them in a decent...

Betstco FH-EFGC155 Flail, New Hammers But Problem With Cut.

Is one of the hammers on backwards? I noticed with mine this year where I make only one pass, there are two strips, where the tires lay down the grass and it doesn't get cut.

Yard machine log splitter engine replacement.

Couple of species of live oak on the west coast - CA. Live oaks are evergreen, don't loose their leaves in fall/winter. Also burns reasonably well when still green. Not the best for your flue, but if you happen to get caught without enough firewood, it can get you through.

Yard machine log splitter engine replacement.

Nice. That looks a lot like the live oak I split here. I usually end up with about half live oak, half black oak. I prefer the black oak. It splits better and burns a little cleaner in my opinion.

CK3510SE HST - PTO fuse blowing

I ended up calling the dealer, cause warranty. They had it for a couple of days and fixed it. Something about a diode in the wiring harness. I don't know where or exactly what they did but it hasn't been a problem since. I did go through quite a few fuses in that week or so waiting for them...

Do I need a general contractor to build a house?

This site has a decent discussion forum on owner/builder projects. Most of these are small homes or cabins and of course many are using the plans sold on the main page. Quite a few build threads that may further inspire you or warn you away from attempting. https://countryplans.com/smf/index.php

Do I need a general contractor to build a house?

We built our house starting in 2013. I had a contractor friend help me with the foundation. We subbed out the septic, insulation and drywall. It took us about 1 year to complete. Very satisfying. Definitely would do things differently. The inspections are a little intimidating, but were really...

Betstco Flail Missing Parts And Very Poor Quality Control.

interesting, which model did you purchase? I have an EFG-175. Yes the manual is not really clear on assembly, but not too difficult. On mine the three point is somewhat offset, and can be offset even more by using the other attachment holes, but in either set up the top link is still centered...

Going To Buy A New Flail - What To Get?

I have the EFG-175, 68". Run it behind my Kioti 3510, just under 30 HP on the PTO. Been 3 years, no problems. Haven't even cooked the belts once. Mostly grass, up to 2 ft. and some small brush, never had it bog down. Just watch out for rocks, they will break hammers. Only thing I don't like is...

    oem-kioti -vs- WRLong 3rd function kit (CKA162)?

Chimney liners as protecting from creosote fires

Without anything else a good cleaning would get you through another year. Depending on the size and shape of your current flue, a brush and set of rods can be found on Amazon for not too much. Hopefully there is a cleanup at the bottom? What everyone says about a hot fire, etc. is true. Im...

Chimney liners as protecting from creosote fires

No real experience here. However my neighbor has a cinder block chimney and uses an insert. They had a fire early last winter. Fortunately not much damage, but they didn't have wood heat the rest of winter. Pretty exciting night in the neighborhood, fire dept was there most of the night. I...

    How much can raccoons eat?

I had a similar problem with skunks. Plus they would manage to dump out the hanging waterer every night. They weren't eating quite that much of the feed though. Electric fence. Haven't had predator problems since. If already fenced a single electric wire around the outside bottom of a pen seems...

Anyone have the shop manual or a wiring diagram for the PTO circuit on a ck3510se, share a picture? I have a 2019 CK3510SE HST, with the electronic PTO type switch. I recently noticed the PTO light would come on even without PTO being engaged. Then one morning the tractor would not start. Upon...

    Everything Attachments

The lighter weight attachments will allow a little more lifting capacity and they are still built just as strong. I would go with the 55" grapple unless you plan to move to a larger tractor. If you are also buying pallet forks, I would go with the root rake grapple. I prefer the shorter tines...

    Hello from California

Found TBN a few months ago when I got serious about buying a tractor. Finally joined so I can contribute to the discussions. We have 19 acres in the California foothills a bit north of Yosemite. There are several mine adits from the 1850s gold rush era on the property. Mostly oaks with some...
