1700 LEAKY INJECTOR

Guys,

I have a leaky injector that bugs me. I have responded on a different thread about this and I think the head will have to be pulled to fix (I hope not).

Sorry...I can't remember who said that: Ernie, California, Danny, Mark??????

It does not effect the running of the tractor, but you can see in the photo what it has done in little over 2 years. Will the head have to be pulled to fix?

This one should show the little bubbles coming up in between the head and injector.

No need to pull the head, unless you have exhausted all means to pull the injector and replace the copper washer. back off the nuts holding the retainer and start it up. The compression might blow the injector loose. I would order replacement washers first.

You can replace 1 of the copper washers and the insulation washer without removing the head, to replace the other copper washer you have to remove the front pre-combustion, which requires removing the head.

Danny,

With your trained eye and knowledge; would you say that it is most likely the injector insulator that is leaking? From the exploded parts diagrahm on Hoye's site (under "head" part #34) it looks like it could be that. It is above the rear combustion chamber and that can be fixed without removing the head....correct?
