Well figured I would post this bucket I built for my BX25 I did about 3 weeks ago. I was tired of it taking forever to dig bigger holes. Only have few pics as I got to involved into the project. Sides are 1/4" high-tense steel along with the side cutting edges an the cutting edge that the teeth are bolted to is Hard-ox 450. Wasn't to bad to build I just tacked the back plate to my 12" bucket an heated an curled the bucket to get the radius. The bad part was the teeth were $34 each:eek:

Nice looking bucket. I hope you are using it in loose material. Around here, I can barely use a 12" bucket on my much larger B26 TLB. I would love to have a 24" bucket to use when cleaning muck out of our ponds which would be the only use for anything larger than my 12". I got it with a 7" bucket that the P.O. had cut down from an 18" which is pretty good for trenching as long as the material is not damp, otherwise it is bad about sticking in the bucket.

Looks like a nice, purposeful bucket. I'd like to get a 7-8" bucket for mine for burying drain pipe. I saw one guy here post that his brother custom made one, it was very long compared to the standard bucket, I emailed him about it and never received a response.

Nice looking job on the bucket. When I had my BX25 I made a 16 inch bucket for it.It made digging a lot faster and the BX seemed to handle it with no problem,at least for my soil type.

It actually works pretty good. Don't have a lot of hard rocky soil. Only used it once so we shall see this summer.

Thanks. I dug out for a retaining wall in behind my pool fence an I couldn't really tell a difference from that one to the 12"

They aren't that bad to make just time consuming. What sucks is the back of the buckets are smaller then the top/bottom is. I found out after I had it curved an had to cut another back once I figured that out to get the width I wanted. I'm actually going to build a 8" bucket for that same reason this spring.

Nice work. Now you just need to fab up some kind of quick change system so you can swap buckets real fast. A member by the name 4shorts made one for his BX25 and put a video on youtube. Seems he doesn't post here all that much anymore, but you might check out his youtube video for more ideas. Again, nice work.

Ya I know Paul I've bin watching his videos for a couple of years. He didn't like it when someone copied his quick coupler as I seen all the drama from the posts on this site about it. It only took me around 5 minutes to change my buckets. Take out the single bolt for each pin an the pins pull out an put the other bucket on. I asked Paul why he took most of the pictures down on this site an he said that something was going on with his photo bucket account.

Ya we have some rocky soil around that's why I went with the 100,000 yield steel for the sides/ scrapers an the Hardox for the main cutting edge. I'm going to build a 8" bucket out of the same steel in the spring. I'd rather over build it then have to repair it all the time.

I realized quick how important it is to inspect your bucket daily.one stress crack one minute and your tearing it open like a beer tab the next

Can you provide a little more info on using your bucket to muck out ponds....I have a 16" bucket and also find the crud just sticks. A lot of blue clay in the swamp....

I have the same problem. We were digging in clay with my 12" bucket an tried smearing grease inside the bucket an it helped for about 3 scoops till it started wearing off. There is not much you can do I guess.

Yeah, but its fun playing around with it....really fun. In dirt, its a BLAST! I planted over a hundred trees, dug out stumps, pulled old fence posts, trenched a drainage ditch, and moved big rocks. That was just the first year!

Google 'clay bucket' for your really wet work. Basically a bucket with no sides, well just enough to give some rigidity to the back. Only good for soft, mushy work and no rocks as they lack the strength of a regular bucket but just the ticket for the pond work. Not having sides reduces the suction.

That's also the reason that your standard bucket has tapered sides to it -- to help keep material from jamming in the back

Nice build on the bucket. Clever using the original bucket as a form to make the new one.
