Thanks Terry for the very kind words. It really has been fun but labor intensive and time consuming project, I'm working on several new picture presentations with description posts and will be putting them up shortly. I'm going to be taking a bunch of pictures of the backhoe outside in it's no scratches condition before I operate it, because I know it will never look like this again! I'll share a series of these too.

Very nice! Would you be able to post a short video of it running when it's ready?

Well Mancelona Man, another forum member ask the same question earlier in my project. I guess I don't have any qualms in posting a video, but I have never done that process before and don't know what it entails, so I'm open for suggestions. As of now I don't own a movie camera, but was considering one of those new Go Pro types. But, I don't have a clue as to how to post a video. I suppose I can research the internet and check YouTube. I just have never had a reason to do this before now. Thanks for the question.......

Better than new! Great job!

I agree^^^, most times when a full restoration is done the machine IS better than new.

My only concern would be with clay type soils the narrow bucket could plug up. That said the existing bucket is much larger radius than on my 110 and should dig faster.

You know jenkinsph, you bring up a valid point. That bucket is smaller than I would like but when I bought the hoe it only came with this 12" and a 36" bucket . I made some modifications to the 12" (my brother) welded on some old worn cutting bar stock onto each side of the bucket to widen it to 16". At the time I built my shop and dug the footing, my neighbor was building his as well. So we made this modification to the 12" bucket to dig his footing. His plans called for a mono-pour with a 16" wide foot that poured with the slab. Anyway, I've always wanted find a 24" bucket for mine, maybe I'll find one sometime.

If you have trouble with cleaning out your narrow bucket while dumping I've seen buckets where the owner has welded a heavy chain inside the bucket. One end gets welded on just behind the teeth and the other end close to the top where the pins are. The idea is that the chain is long enough to lay flat against the back of the bucket while digging and then as you dump it's something that helps the dirt to fall out. It's also something to rattle around inside the bucket to encourage the mud to fall out.

I find it helps to not "curl" so much to totally load your bucket. Try to dig flatter (like following the bottom of the trench) as looser material will fill the bucket.

This may seem inefficient as opposed to taking one big scoop while curling but then shaking the bucket to unload is also.

Another thing that works sometimes is stop dipper travel when the bucket is half full. Reverse direction a few inches then continue filling the bucket. This may help alleviate some of the suction in clay.

Here's my JD resto. Not as nice as your Case. :)
