OK, Cariboo4x4,

I finally have the time to get back to you with an explanation. The link that I included with my answer last night did not include an explanation in regard to the part that is listed. The description says it's for dozer arms, but I found through my research that it would fit the Case 32 backhoe series lower bushing also. I found that other sites have this part listed but for about $20.00 more, so that is why I sent you this link, hope it saves you some time.

Regards, Stan

Well, I'm finally at the at the end of the project. I started with old damaged 1963 Case 530CK and now have a nice useable piece of equipment! It took me about 3 years, but I figure an estimated, 3000 hrs. for me to restore it to this condition. Would I do it again if I knew what was in store and how worn out it was? NO WAY...... I really didn't know the degree of the wear and damage until I got so deep into the dismantling that it was either load it up and part it out or just repair and replace all of the components of this tractor. I must say though, I would never have learned as much as I did along the way (carbon steels, alloy steels, even welding techniques), and would never have acquired the machining skills that I have now! I had a mill and lathe way before I started this, but I had never done the complicated stuff that this project required. I sure have learned a lot and hope it has in some way helped some of you too.

OK, I've got most of the hoe parts back together, and if you'll note the two hoses attached to the boom and hooking to the dipper cylinder, that of course was the OEM configuration. But, when I fabricated the boom links that hold the boom in the stowed position, I found that I had not taken into consideration those hoses. As the arms swung down into position they hit both hoses. So I had to have the guys at Parker Hose bend me some rigid steel tube to the corrected dimension and change the angle 90 deg. and that fixed that.

IMG_2922_rs.jpg
If you look at the boom in the stowed position you can see the new hoses and the corrected piping. This was taken just before I mounted the wheels. I had painted the wheels, both front and rear 2 years prior. I had to clean up the shop before installing the wheels and I had crap all over the floor!

IMG_2940_rs.jpg
Took a picture from the rear with the stabilizers in the up position, it was so good to finally have it at this stage!!! If you look at the bucket you'll notice that their are wings welded on to make it 16 inches wide. Another interesting thing is in the stowed position I can drive out of the shop, the boom and dipper are just under 11' and that is the opening height of the shop door, it clears just fine.

IMG_2941_rs.jpg
Just about ready to start it and move it out of the shop.

IMG_2959_rs.jpg
First picture of the finished product. The rest are just different angles and different loader and hoe arrangements.

Thanks for sharing your project. It gives the rest of us the inspiration to keep at it. My restoration won't be as complete, at least for now. I just need to get my 1962 530 so I can get some work out of her.

Hi mayorbob,
Thanks for the kind words, why don't you post a couple of pictures or your machine I would sure be interested. If you or anyone else is still inclined, I've got maybe a couple more posts regarding my machine. Thought maybe everyone might be getting tired of this thread.....

Thanks Bill,

I thought I might post a segment with pictures and explanation of all the tools that I had to fabricate in order to restore my Case 530CK.
Also I had to do a fair amount of rebuild and improvements on my 12" backhoe bucket.
And finally, I took the time to snap a few pictures of the rebuild of my emergency brake, floor boards, and clutch linkage etc.

Let's see if I can get a picture or two here, since I'm new on this forum. Case 530-7.jpg

Does anybody know where I can get pages from a tractor manual covering the power steering pump removal & rebuild? I have the single cylinder power steering with steering shaft that goes from the steering wheel to the front of the tractor. My manual only covers the dual cylinder setup, & there's no comparison! My cylinder checked out just fine at a hydraulic shop, so I'm going for the pump & filter. Would sure love to see some pictures or directions.Case 530-2.jpg

Hi Bob,
Glad you posted some pictures of your machine! It looks nice, like you have already done a bunch of work on it.

Would you post a picture of the steering wheel and housing at the instrument panel and connections of your power steering device at the front axle? By your description of the pump and steering, I can't quite picture what you need. I've got a good picture of my pump and flow directions from my service manual, and if it will help you I would take a picture, blow it up and post it with instructions.

I will go get some pictures to post. Really, I have done very little to the tractor. When I bought it, it was in pretty good shape for being as old as it is. It looked solid, & though I knew I needed to do some work, it looked like it was worth working on...so here I am. I also liked what I read about its history, that it was a good work-horse, so I bought it. I'm looking forward to getting a lot of work out of it.

Stan (et all): Here are some pictures of the steering setup on my '62 Case 530 backhoe. IMG_2054.JPG - Here is the lower steering shaft U-joint: IMG_2055.JPG - This is the upper U-joint: IMG_2063.JPG - Hydraulic cylinder (single): IMG_2056.JPG - Cylinder connected to right side: IMG_2059.JPG - Power steering pump (near as I can figure): IMG_2057.JPG - Power steering filter (I need to find proper filter or replace unit): IMG_2058.JPG I'm looking for any pictures, illustrations, pages from shop manual, etc. My manual shows the dual cylinder setup, which has no relationship to mine. Thanks. Bob

Stan, I followed your project for awhile but lost track of it until now. After seeing all the great work, It would be hard for me to use it for anything but parades. Very nice.

Did you discuss why the loader arms have two cylinders per side? If so, I'll wade thru all 150 posts to find it.

Yeah Bob,

That's a great bunch of pictures that you took of your machine! After looking at your pictures that you posted of your steering system, I don't recognize any of the parts on your tractor. Check your serial number and check it against the known years for Case industrial equipment. You might try this link and see if you can find anything helpful: http://home.microtech.com/mikef/530CK/gas.php

Hope this helps, Stan.

Hi jmc,
I'm not sure from your question, two cylinders per side what you mean. On each side of a loader there is the arm lift cylinder and a bucket dump cylinder, that makes two cylinders per side. Or were you referring to the leveling cylinder that is located just above the lift cylinder on the right side of the 530CK loader? Stan

It must be the leveling cylinder you mentioned. I just assumed there was the same cylinder arrangement on each side.

Thanks.
