Hello everyone. Long time no post.

I have been using the JD1020D many times since the rebuild. I have yet to hit the 100 hour mark yet, so I still have the JD break in oil in the tractor.

I have been brush hogging the pasture, moving gravel around to finish my access road to the back side of my barn, etc.

Here is where my anxiety is growing....

I have read stories about the PTO lever, that is behind my left foot while sitting on the tractor, shearing off the little roll pin that connects the lever to the PTO engage/disengage assembly.

Mine still works fine, but it does have some side to side play. So left and right play when sitting on the tractor. This is what has me worried. Is this a tell tale sign that my lever is about to go?

I have read the only way to fix this is by splitting the tractor. The link below shows another thread about this lever.

I've never witness the groove pin in question being replaced but I understand it can be replaced by removing rockshaft housing.

So I shouldn't be concerned with my "side to side" movement?

That would be news to me if you could replace the roll pin without splitting the tractor?

Looking at the parts diagrams for both pto models both use the same 2 roll pins to hold the fork. I don't see having much issue with this set up as two 3/8" diameter x 1 3/4" length roll pins should be pretty stout. Item marked #23 in the first picture and #15 in the second picture.

I thought PNW1020D was referring to pin(key 2) on pto engagement lever.

I thought PNW1020D was referring to pin(key 2) on pto engagement lever.

Re reading the thread you are likely correct. I was curious about getting to the pin and pulled up the above illustrations. Just from memory it would seem you could get to the linkage with the rockshaft removed but I was looking for a drawing to verify that.

PNW did not say how much the lever move left and right, that would be helpful to understand his problem.

Hey everyone.

Long time no post. I hope you all had a wonderful xmas!!!

So yea, I was referring to the pin shown as item #2. I would say I have probably 1/4"-3/8" side to side movement for the pto engage lever. Should that be concerning?

Also I have some questions regarding my model 47 loader and my 3pt hitch lifting capacities. From what I read my three point should be able to lift 2100lbs. What can my model 47 loader lift?

The reason I ask is that I needed to remove some large concrete sections I had cut out of an existing slab. I rigged them to my 3pt, but it wouldn't fully lift the sections. So I turned around and rigged it to my bucket and the tractor lifted it no problem.

This seemed quite off to me, and was wondering if my 3pt hitch needs to be overhauled? Also lifting with the 3pt hitch seems safer and easier to control/mitigate accidents in comparison to using the FEL.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks!!!!

Normally 3 pt hitch will lift more weight than a FEL. Will 3 pt stay up when engine isn't running? If so how long?

That is what I thought. But I do know or read that the model 47 loader for my 1020D is pretty much too much loader for the little tractor. I read the model 46A lifts around 2000lbs. So I was assuming my model 47 could lift somewhere between the 46A and 48 lifting capacity. So 2200-2500lbs.

As for my three point, once the engine is turned off, the 3pt falls to the ground. I would say it takes maybe 2min and I know this inst supposed to be.

Be interested if you know the lift capacity of the 3 pt on an ac185? It will lift a big round bale with relative ease. My koyker loader is supposed to lift like 4000 lbs. I've had 3000 lbs up and you want a big round bale on the back for weight. I always worry about breaking a front spindle lifting that much. I know it will lift the back of a John Deere 55 combine, but won't lift the front of a John Deere 55 combine. Trying to lift the front it pull the rear wheels off the ground. Just curious if you know, I can't find anything on line about it.
