1st big snow of 2016 this weekend

My grass is still showing through a dusting. Not normal for Michigan.

Radar looks like we'll have another couple of hours of snow then be out of the storm. Best guess would be 8" on the ground right now. Wind has kept it moving. Some places bare and others 2-3 feet. Will get to spend a couple of hours tomorrow plowing. 3rd large snow in last 12 months for us.

Looks like we will get about 2+ feet here. A little too deep for the BX 24, so I will be using the L3700. This is front loader lift and remove snow more than plowing snow. I also have a fairly large walk behind snowblower which I started up today, so I may be using it as well. The BX is more maneuverable and the L has a brush hog which I was too lazy to remove, so I will have to be careful. When it gets this deep the BX is just too low to the ground.

I put the back blade on my BX and knocked off the first 3-4" earlier today... more coming down, see what's out there in the morning. What little I have to do, the little BX with hst is much nicer than the gear drive 3005, and small enough to get around the sidewalks up to the house. Might even be a nice landlord and go over to clean out the rental driveway too.

I debated clearing the first 4" we had by sunset, but it switched over to sleet about then and wasn't real pleasant to be out in. So I'll see what awaits me in the morning. Seems to be a rain/snow mix right now.

We got about 8 down so far... Good for VA, but since there calling for an inch or 2 an hour throu the am, I'll hold off till the am and save some fuel. The deere can blast a couple feet, no problem!

I'm right on the edge. Forecast for days has been for little to nothing; now they are edging upwards to 2"-6" by some accounts. I'm ready for whatever.

Well they change the forcast, now they want 20 to 30 inches in Central pa. Glad I didn't bet on it.

They are saying NYC could get 2 feet. Hard to believe that's gonna happen and I get little to nothing 80 miles north. Temp has gone up here 1 degree between 5:30 and 6:30 AM. That does not bode well. I'd sooner see a flat or declining temp before daylight and a stiff NW breeze.
