2013 Hay Season

Jim have you got a bucket?.. I have had more rain in the last week than I have had all summer.. Jim if you have a throw down field cut it.. it will rain.:laughing:. I think that the way it works now.:confused3:. Lou

Nothing to cut that would pay for diesel. The last field of fert Coastal I cut 2 weeks back was 25 acres & made 198 sq bales.

I went over to the land,, it about 10 miles from where I live,, yesterday and tedder it.. already had it in wind roll,, thinking I would be able to roll it again today bale the last ten or so bales,, 4x5,, Nice and sunny here at the house got to the land and it was raining.. so I re-tedder it.. maybe this afternoon,, maybe.. I just got done shredding last lease hay meadow,it made me sick but just wouldn't have made much,I'm done for the year all lease places cleaned up til next year my friends.
2013 Total acres cut&baled 115 made 167bales(5x4's)...

Finished our 2 fields today. 3rd field isn't really worth it and will probbaly get bushhogged unless we have some hot weather in the next couple of weeks. Total: ~1050 very good small squares of first cut and 150 bales of 2nd cut.

We could, but temps in the 50s and 60s wouldn't do much for drying hay...

167 4 by 5s off 115 acs ouch.we baled maybe 110acs an got 146 5 by 6 bales off 1 cutting.thats equal to 300 4 by 5 bales.

Too many variables but I seriously doubt over twice as many 4X5 as 5x6's. Type of hay,amt of hyd pressure applied while baling and moisture content of hay are three of the major variables.

Yeah its been a not so good year. My 4x5's are going to weight 1,000lbs,they are so tight hard to get a spear in them.
