I have 13.5 years of service as the corporate pilot for a auto parts supplier making glass and my father has 40 plus years as VP of a supplier making radiator and gas caps and fuel components.

and I am a GM Powertrain retiree now a Principal Engineer for a Tier 1 supplier making everything from wiring harnesses, seating, and body electronics. I know the margins and the volumes needed to keep the plants running. If GM went down so would we and our competitors. No one would be building vehicles since our plants build for every brand on the market, foreign and domestic.
In order to reinvent and get back to production, the entire cost structure would have to change. Perhaps in several years the costs would level as the economy grew stronger but prices of vehicle would not return. It isn't what "they" wanted us to believe, it is fact, I have first hand knowledge.
