220V Plused spray MIG welders?

Our coffee pots with timers, our phones, our washing machines, our Tier IV tractors, and our electric toothbrushes have PC boards, and you know how those boards are so failure-prone.

Tractor doesn't need HST, shuttle shift, or cab. Car doesn't need power windows & door locks. Just because old ways worked doesn't mean new ones are nightmares of complication. A guy can dig a hole with a shovel to prove he doesn't need a backhoe, but IMO he might not inspire many others to do so.

'When the lights go out' (removed) might be the only guy still working, but until they do we have a lot of choices.

Like said before when you wasn't payin attention, go to Miller site and count up posts cryin bout how de fancy Miller machine crapped de bed. Blue ain't built diddle worth haulin home since ITW bought de company. ITW turn everything to crap. 1980 Millermatic 200 still burning wire just fine like has since day it was bought.

ITW so cute dey even "desupport" machines about 10 years after first of model sold. Better money selling new machine den sellin parts. ITW been nothin but crap since dey bought Miller, now dey own Smith too. Probably half what you get fer yer money is salesmancrap.
Look around see how many MM-250 you see. First of ITW klunkers. Dey didn't fix or update when problems were finally solved, SCREW de OWNER.

Miller HAD great dealer network. ITW killed off dealers and went direct to customer marketing. Dealers built de brand and ITW whored de name just like wid Hobart Bros.

ITW & LinKoon went to war, salesmen out wazoo peddlin mine better. Both come out wid new electronic TIG machines. Both offer stream of upgrades to electronics. Blue you gotta buy $600 card for each improvement. Red got phone jack on back, calls factory during night and updates for only cost of long distance. Electronics crap, Red calls home and diagnoses. Blue, well try dis board, we ship, you got Master card or Visa.

IF I got to buy a new machine, and I don't, sure wouldn't be buyin blue or white. Most likely buy HTP made in Italy based on value per buck I spent.

You got lot of fancy new toys,, must be you not smart enough to turn coffee pot on. I can and do. Sounds like you kind of fellow has to keep up wid Jonses down de road. I got skill, Jones got unpaid bills. You can have all de bills you want, my toys all paid for. Wouldn't have Tier 4 machine on property, flat stupid idea. Don't need power windows either but got em cause dey on school vehicle I bought after school fools paid first $30,000 of cost. Kind of sad you so conditioned to consume, but you chose dat over learning. NOT my problem. Good luck consumer.

I think technology is great, a new 200DC Hobart runs from a plug in 50A welder circuit and can run 5/32 lo hy about as fast as a guy wanted to chuck them in a stinger. Sure an old Dialarc is great at todays used rated but in the day the remotes we used for some of them cost more than these machines and needed 4 friggin 0 lead ahead of it all. 600 for a box can carry around and run till its a cinder from a 10 cord. As I recall the rated output was 200 at 43 in at 240 which at 160 out lets say I bet it draws 35 tops. Maybe even a little less than an older tranny DC buzzer running 1/8

That 200 you got then cost a lot more back in the day. The 200 multi the op has is likely a dinky machine. Will it output 150 stick? If this was a fix and maintenance job and not going in the biz might be looking for a cheaper fix if I already had some kind of wire feed for the everyday bracket and sheet work.

I love my Miller 350P pulse MIG
I don’t think I have used the standard MIG mode on it other than trial.
I have not used it for aluminum, steel only

Haha. I'm the opposite. Only aluminum with Cobra push-pull.

Never tried on steel.

MM-200 Genuine Miller machine cost 1600 + tax across dealer dock. Dealer der to support & warranty in 1980 when machine bought. Got no intention of running thru inflation calculator. Good rock solid MIG machine burned lot of wire on only a few liners and bunch of tips. Genuine Hobart Bros 400 amp in same shop got no idea what cost, got it free cause it 3Ø. Runs & drives nice on #10 wire MM-200 on 6 wire plugs into 100 amp socket for TIG. Hobart got analog readout I can't see from under hood.

I got no love or desire for lunchbox full of transistors. Probably walk away on its own too. MM-200 or Hobart not likely to walk off. Both got genuine US components too, probably from companys got run out of business by UNION or EPA.

Got no need for speed, not running production shop got no desire to either given what I see currently playing dat game. Too mucho payments for CNC dat obsolete as gettin set up. I like 1 man shop set up to run like 1 man shop. No desire at all for employees to make screwups I gotta pay for.

Your position may be different but I agree with a bit of do it with what you got if you can. But the lunch box is super. Its like having the ultimate remote right there. They are cheap for what they do and some of the imports are proving out well which is even more incentive to use them. Especially different if a guy doesnt already have a shop full of machines. The convenience of 120V is revolutionary. An import is DC, MVP and cost less than an AC buzzer 25 yrs ago.

Better bring the Model A out of the shed and sell my new F150. After all the A still runs. I do have to say that the first few batches of XMT's , 350P's and Axcess machines were very very embarrassing for Miller. PCB Nightmare.

(removed) I delight in people's assumptions getting me all wrong and you toppin' them all. :thumbsup: I don't have to keep up with anybody, haven't personal debt in 15 yrs, only use cell phone for calls & texts. I drive a 2011 Mazda and ride an '89 motorbike. (I buy cars/trucks used & drive for 10 yrs or so ... to 'keep up with Jones'. ) I haven't bought new clothes in 35 yrs, am known around town by my sweaters with holes. (they're warm) I don't wash cars and trucks because the rain does. btw, I paid cash for the last two houses I bought ('00 and '17) one of which I just sold and never lived in.

I've never paid >$20k for a car, truck, tractor, m'cycle or boat, mill or lathe but have bought one of each new. I don't use cordless tools and rarely air powered ones. When the power goes out (last biggie 2 1/2 days after ice storm in 'teen degree' weather I turned on a gas burner, dressed warm, and read by candle light.) My generator has never been used to power the house. Fuel in it is at least six years old. I have no TV service (life is too short) & I can & do listen to NPR in my car or with a portable radio when my power is out.

So (removed) besides my height, weight, years of college, mother's maiden name, number of surgeries, color of my eyes, and the diopter of my bifocals, what else about did you always know so well about me. :laughing:

btw, you quote me. I don't quote you. (Gotta go feed my plowing mule. No2 fuel is ~$3/gallon. I get hay for $2/sq bale. )

Ya might been be goin someplace if ya had 12 volt DC LED lighting thru de house fer when power goes off. Mine good fer 12 hours so I got plenty time to start genset.

You still in Michigan so I send Urka over to eat yer vittles. Hes got big appitite and tell you all boot his plan fer topless burger joint if power plant ever gets built.
