The diverter would work, but the BEST solution (and cheaper also I think) is to get the Power Beyond kit to power the splitter, leaving the loader 100% functional. Might even get a little more speed out of it also because you won't have the restriction of the SCV valve and the small QD's.
If anyone's interested, I took Kenny's advice and bought the JD Power Beyond Kit for my JD790 and installed it in about 2 hours. It was very simple and the directions were clear and easy to follow. I've had more difficult times assembling my 5 year olds lego set.
I think I won a bid for a log splitter on ebay, and can't wait to see how it works.
