And more dependable, it will keep working when the neighbor girls come around

2 quick thoughts, 1. I like the steel wings that come with the complete unit, saves toes and allows to stage logs
2. worry about safety, with a remote operator and some one else loading the splitter.....

I see you have a foldable ROPS. Is that an option/add-on?

yes it was an add on, as far as I know the 2305 comes only with a non foldable ROPS, mine is from Femco and was a very easy switch over

Is it really worth it to get the 3pth splitter and put the extra hours on the tractor rather then a gas splitter?

The diverter would work, but the BEST solution (and cheaper also I think) is to get the Power Beyond kit to power the splitter, leaving the loader 100% functional. Might even get a little more speed out of it also because you won't have the restriction of the SCV valve and the small QD's.

If anyone's interested, I took Kenny's advice and bought the JD Power Beyond Kit for my JD790 and installed it in about 2 hours. It was very simple and the directions were clear and easy to follow. I've had more difficult times assembling my 5 year olds lego set.

I think I won a bid for a log splitter on ebay, and can't wait to see how it works.

I looked long and hard at getting a Power Beyond and a 3-point log splitter but in the end decided it would cost more and not meet my log opening, speed and force requirements, and would tie up my tractor. I just leave this splitter where I am working and cover it with a piece of roof rubber. Very convenient!

SO - i got an old BIG gas-powered splitter. I can actually take large oak rounds, maybe 24-26" dia and 20" long and lift them up to the splitter level and the splitter takes it from there. I usually bust big rounds up into 4ths so they can be easily placed on the splitter

I finally had my Ramsplitter 16T 3Pt logsplitter delivered this week. To me, it was a steal for $430 plus shipping off of ebay.
I had to spend some pretty good coin at the JD dealer to get the quick disconnect couplers to fit the power beyond fittings but the guy at the dealer was very helpful and figured out which parts I needed pretty quickly.
I split about 1 1/2 cord of wood in about 2 hours. My tractor is rated at 5.4 GPM, and I expected it to be slow, but it moves as fast as I can handle and it sure beats splitting with a maul.
