3 Bottom rollover plow (IH140 plow) questions

Are your wheels still set like they are in this photo, if so you still have some adjustment left? Leave the centers as they are but switch the outer rims from side to side. The mounting ears on the rims are also offset and by switching them you will gain some more width.

I find it interesting how different a manufacturer can make things and why. I have been wanting to widen my tractor stance. Just haven't figured out how to support and make the change.

Point of my post is this;
Look how mine came from the dealer, note the valve stem compared to what partyhound's looked like. At the rim's widest stance the valve stem is still on the outside. Distance inside to inside is 48.5", but I still want that extra 3-4 inches.:)

A flat level concrete floor would be best. Take your time, tipping the wheel only slightly if necessary to roll. IF it decides to go over get out of its way and let it go.

I’ve moved lots of fluid filled tires in my life. I’m only 5’ 6” and the big row crop tires that were TALLER than me were the EASIEST because of leverage.

I’ve only had one get away from me so I just let it go. Had to use the tips of the forklift to stand it up for me. Lol.

Think it out and be careful.

Thanks, luckily mine aren't filled yet so it will be easier than what partyhound will have to deal with.

Yeah Lynn, yours are a lot different than mine. I think mine are 16.9-30. Yours the same?

Mine are 14.9-28

Little side note,

It's upsetting, but when I bought mine I could have bought the 7320 for less than I paid for the 6620. The reason I didn't is two fold. I only lived on 6 acres at the time with no plans to move. Really didn't need a tractor that big. Second reason is it had been on the lot for some time and I didn't want a tractor that everyone had been testing out on the lot.
In hindsight I should have just bought the 7320.

These are still not at there widest setting. The loops on the rim would be on the outside of the inner disc. As for the valve steam location it depends on how the tire is mounted on the rim being a directional tread.

Well duh!! Now that you said it, it makes perfect sense. I'd like to think I was smarter.

I knew there was more room by adjusting the rim, but sure didn't know about how the tire was mounted.

I just found these plow setup instructions from Ken Sweet.

The Instructions From a JD plow owners manual, the tire settings on the tractor are the major determining factor in how much the front plow cuts (1-2-3-4 bottom plow all the same) and keeping it centered with the tractor.

From the inside of the right rear tire rubber to the center of the drawbar you need:
23 inches for 12" bottom plow
25 inches for 14 inch bottom plow
27 inches for 16 inch bottom plow

We have used these initial setttings for decades and they works on all brands plows and all tractors--We have found that this in the single most important initial setting when mounting a plow.
