I have had one of the barbell pins for over 6 years. Never have had a problem with it.

Do they use a lot of salt on the roads in Texas to keep them from icing up?

No snow = no salt. But, lots of dust and I'll take the dust over the snow and salt.:)

Rob
I had one of those locks jam and what a chore to get it off!
I couldn't even get a 4" grinder in to cut it off I had to drill the non lock side out till I could snap it off.

On the way home the other night I think I saw the solution.

The guy had 3 or 4 links of chain welded to hitch and a good weather proof pad lock to the safety chain hole.

Rob, after smacking my shin on my hitch for the umteenth time, I started keeping the hitch under the back seat of my pickup and put it on as needed.

My point was that the problem with the locks were salt mostly. The locks we use on our trailers have held up great but we only use them when the trailer is parked so they don't get abused by the salt.

After the first couple times you should have learned to step a foot further from the back of the bumper;)

I do remember a few times I have walked into the hitches on our trucks:(

Bill,
If you switch all that money you carry in your left pocket into the right one, it will make you sway away from the hitch instead of into it as you walk around the back.
I don't have that problem since my pockets are empty.:)
