Moving to the home itself, Loretta and I made a couple changes to the bathrooms and kitchen. Nothing major, just more user friendly. We also got the windows and French doors in for the patio deck areas.

Starting and putting up the interior stair case railings.
This is the pile of small logs they used. The railings and posts are 4" diameter and the slats are 2" diameter.
We think it looks really good.

Here are some shots of the wood decking running around the entire home. There will also be a railing that runs completely around too. I see a lot of maintenance there though...oh well, it looks good. Our patio vistas will be very nice.
Here's Larry and I enjoying the work they're doing.

Here is some electrical stuff and also the HVAC system and ducting work. There are also fans for the bathroom vents, etc. So it looks like they made a lot of progress. We are now going over interior colors, fixtures and stuff like that.
Flooring, tile, counter tops bath stuff is all being decided also.

Rob, I see a lot of galvanized steel pipe connected to brass valves.
Aren't you concerned about electrolytic action damaging the steel?
Does your plumbing inspector allow these connections without
dielectric unions?

brass and steel are ok its copper to steel that is the real problem we allways usesd abrass fitting to isolate the copper from the iron pipe..

Terrific looking place. Congrats on an excellent project.

Just be sure to keep the brush cleared around your homestead.

Hey Rob,
I have really enjoyed following this thread. Great looking place you have being built their. You should be very proud to be able to build such a place for your retirement years. I am sure we sill see some great projects once you get your shop equipment set up. Again, congratulations on a dream come true.

3RRL,
Wow your beautiful! I keep lloking at thoe nice logs in the ceiling and feeling kind of sad that they will be covered up with drywall. They look so nice supporting that second story floor.

Rob, your home continues to amaze and impress me. The location and views can't be beat.

How will you finish the wood patio doors? Natural or stained? We stained our maple woodwork a "fawn" color which is has a hint of red in it.

Rox,

I don't think the logs you're looking at will be covered. They typically are not in log houses... if wiring or duct work needs to be run for lights, HVAC, bathroom exhaust fans, etc., typically they only box in that part of the ceiling and leave the beams (floor joists) and the underside of the second floor exposed...

For example, here's a pic from the Real Log Homes site, which manufactured the logs that Rob's using:
