3rd function control on the Joystick

I had to go thru my JD Dealer for the Fasse, as they dont deal directly with the public. I was interested in the WRLong setup, but for some reason my dealer didnt deal with them. The Fasse was more expensive than the Long, total was around $600 I think. But to me the diff is worth it, as if something breaks, I can take it back to the dealer.

I got the ATI grapple thru my Ford/NH dealer, I think it was around $950 delivered. Price of steel had gone up and increased the price. If I were to do it again, I'd buy a grapple bucket off ebay. The ATI is nice, but adds a lot of weight to the bucket for normal use.

The more I have looked at this, I believe that all I really need is a solenoid to actuate the existing third function. So now I am researching solenoids...

This is what I am going to use in my grapple set-up. (Copied directly from PineRidges' set-up. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Thanks, PineRidge. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) I like the diverter type the best. It's simple to "toggle" back and forth between fuction using a momentary push-button switch. I also like the fact that I can control the speed of the grapple with the joystick.

That should work but that part is a little more expensive since you have to add an additional $32 for the wire plugs bringing the total to over $300. And you still have to buy 4 sets of fittings. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Keep looking as the Hyvair should be cheaper since you don't need the plugs and Grainger is usually more expensive anyways.

I got my kit which included everything (knob, wiring, fittings, hoses, valve, bracket) for $519 thru the local JD dealer who is also a WR Long dealer. He didn't even mind ordering something for a Kubota either. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I kind of like the true third function over the diverter. The extra $90 for the setup was worth it, in my opinion.

BigDogues thanks for the complement! I like the electric diverter also. Very handy and very easy to use mounted on the joystick. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Let me know if you need any assistance with your project.

I also have been thinking about this...learned a lot here thanks!

Seems like sometimes I might want to use the grapple to just keep something in the bucket, but not crush it.
In this case wouldn't the diverter setup give you more control over the grapple?
For those that have a diverter setup, does the bucket move at all when you switch back and forth?

Not even a little bit.
HERE is a link to my diverter install.

Either a diverter or a third function will give you the same control over the grapple.

The third function has the advantage of operating the grapple and the lift/curl simultaneously, albeit a little slower. This could be helpful for some situations.

Thanks for the price info. The ATI grapple would be simple to install to my rake but for that price I should be able to make on that will best fit my needs.

Seems like you could feather the diverter but the solenoid operated third function is either full on or full off.
