I had a John Deere 755 which was 20 hp and a 5' Country Line tiller and it worked swell, just had to go a little slower is all.

Is $1,200 a fair price? I would like to go to $900 and I have seen some go for less.

It looks in decent condition but I would want it for $900. I don稚 need anything too of the line.. just need to turn some dirt/clay. A 42 offset might be more manageable for my tractor, right? See attached for pictures!

One thing about those cheapo tillers, they have less tines per flanges, so they run a little easier...

I asked him if he had to shorten his PTO shaft and he said they cut it to fit his Kubota BX tractor. How would I know if there was too much cut off? Does the BX manual cover this, I can look over mine and see if I could find something about shaft shortening for implements.. but if his was cut shorter than mine requires is it easy/cheap to order/install another shaft from a tiller that has been discontinued?

I would take the 42" Land Pride over the 60" TSC tiller any day... and the latter is what I use. As others have said, I've known people who have run the big tillers with smaller tractors but it's much more enjoyable using equipment that matches. The manual should tell how long the PTO shaft should be and yes, you can buy another if need be.

It shouldn't be a big deal to replace the shaft if needed. They're generally standardized on both ends.
As for how to tell if its too short, pull it apart connect both ends and see how much overlap there is. You should have at least six inches of overlap.

As for tiller size, we have a Kubota B 7500 which has 19 horsepower at the engine and 16 horsepower the PTO. We run a 60-inch Kubota tiller behind it and while we do have to go slow, (even creeping sometimes) it handles it. If it was a gear tractor rather than a hydrostatic, it might not be able to go slow enough.

Gardenwise even creeping we can have the garden tilled in an hour or two, so it's not a huge deal to have to go very slow.

Rural King has the 4' King Kutter tiller for $1,599,..... also available for a bit less elsewhere.
I have a 5" KK tiller.
It is a well built implement that has good reviews
Land Pride might be better, but.......$1,000+ more?

But they don’t ship do they? I live in Maine and have nothing near me. Most shipping would be another few hundred, wouldn’t it?

Most small equipment places have tillers for $500-$700 more than online prices.
