65 Ford 2000 3 Cylinder

I have a 7' disk that made the front end light. I'd guess it to be around 800#, but the center of the weight is back a little ways from the hitch points. 110 lbs. of weight on the front really enhanced steering when the disk was lifted.

There was no problem using a 5' cutter, two botom plow, or grading blade. I know that my 6' Woods HB72 box blade weighed in at 635# and the 2000 handled it fine without the weights on.

Yes, I was referring to the belly drawbar.

He also had a spreader bar and that fit just fine.

Thanks for you input on the mowers. Yes, I am looking for a 6' finish mower.

What do you consider 'heavy' for a 2000 w/o any front weights, 500# ?

Tractordata says that a 3000 can pick up 1700 lbs 24" back from the 3 point.
Your 2000 should be rated about the same. It does not say if that is with front ballast though but I think it would have to be.
My Bush Hogï® weighs about 850 lbs and does make the front end a bit light if I'm cutting in hilly areas. Doesn't lift the front end but I can tell it's pretty light. It will heft my 7' finish mower around all day without making the front end light. Probably weighs around 600 lbs. A 6' would be lighter.
I do not run front ballast but am planning on adding some this summer.

Good to know. A 72" BB is on my list also.

If you're asking about the belly drawbar I am almost certain that they are different. I'm not saying it won't fit somehow, I just know the original drawbar was different.

That's a nice tractor you found there. You are fortunate find power steering on a 2000, that was an option.

My first tractor was a '72 2000 gasser. Ran it for a decade and still have fond memories of it.

I got over to try the swinging drawbar today, it fits but in looking at Messicks parts page I can not determine what the fastener is that is used to secure the drawbar. Looks like it could be a 5/8-11 x 2-1/4" G5 HH Bolt, no nut or washer called out. There are no threads to engage a bolt so it would seem it does not take a nut.

Push the clutch a few extra feet before you want to stop when you are bush hogging. .

if it's an 8spd or the rareish live 6spd.. it shouldn't be an issue...

on t he 8n with belly bracket there was a pin with nubs that went in to the bracket.. etc..

i know that HD servis 6' mower on the back of my 4600 made the front end light when i loade don my deckover trailer... ( think teeter totter! ) front wheel weights, loaded front tires, and 160# of weights up front solved that issue..

My swinging drawbar had a smooth pin with a retainer clip. The cilp slides onto the pin on the top side of the drawbar bracket.

OK, that's what I was thinking after looking at it. It was the only logical way it could work. Is the pin anything special or can I find it at my local TSC? The hole looks to be about 7/8", so I'm thinking a 3/4" pin.
Why can I not find the pin and retainer clip on the parts page? I see the drawbar and bracket and mounting hardware, but not the pin. Is it supplied with the swinging drawbar?

I was looking in an old toolbox yesterday and happened to notice there was a drawbar pin and the hairpin clip that goes with it in there.
This is what you want to hold the lower drawbar in a 3 cyl tractor.
These are available from the dealer for not a lot of money.
