710 John Deere; Rear arms and clutch issue

So I ended up with this tractor and the engine runs perfect. I'd like to get two issues sorted out. Right now the rear arms will not lower (but will creep down after a few days). With the lever "down" and the tractor starts, the arms will stay down. The arms will respond perfectly to "raise" to whatever height you want but once they are up they will not respond to anything. Next is the clutch... the pedal is quite high when the clutch starts to grab but what makes it dangerous is that the clutch will not always disengage when you push the pedal down. So the tractor may travel an extra 10 feet before the clutch will "let go". I believe the tractor was not used for at least 5 years other than moving around the yard. I wonder if the clutch could be adjusted or maybe its wet or maybe it would work itself free after a few days of good use... my feeling is that is probably worn out. Thanks in advance

You likely have a two-stage clutch. Right ?

I agree clutch is a dual stage type. It's possible pilot brg is faulty or traction clutch hub splines & trans input shaft splines are binding.

Although my Grandfather & Grandmother spoke fluent German language I definitely don't understand German.

I suggest for you to acquire if you don't already have one a free operators manual plus the parts catalog & tech manual in written in English. Search for Equipment Publications - Technical Information Store
