( DONT BUY A CUB. Seems MTDs high end from a dealer is no better than their low end from the box stores. )

hahaha I like how people think that CUB CADET makes two different lines of tractors. One for Lowes & TSC and another for Cub dealers.

Guess what.. they are same tractors no matter where you buy it.

Cat Engines currently have to be serviced by a CAT dealer. That's NOT Cub's rule...that's CAT's rule! CAT currently doesn't want Cub dealers touching their parts.

But to let you girls in on a secret...that's about to change!

Cub dealers will be able to order parts and service CAT engines soon enough. The program is currently being worked out. I saw the program info on monday.

And like I told CUBHATER...if he can get his dealer to tell me that his engine problem is the TRACTOR's FAULT... ill pay a portion of his bill. Until this happens...I cannot do anything.

The engine problem is not caused from the brackets.

I would be more than happy help Cubhater with his situation. But I can't go against the company policies. I have to give every single customer fair and equal treatment. I do not have anything from the dealer stating that the engine problem(s) is a factory defect.

I finally had the engine inspected by a machinist. From what the machinist told me the engine was used and experienced lubrication failure in the upper cylinder portions of the block.

Lack of lubrication could be from the bad fuel injector or dirt ingestation during use. Fuel and oil do not mix...neither do dirt and oil.

Like i said before if the dealer says that this was a factory defect..I would pay a portion of your bill.

Until this is done...Cub cannot help you.

( Why do customers feel the need to raise the front tires up off the ground with the bucket? I never understood that one. )

Its called backdragging. Do it all the time. A loader isn't much use to me if I can't backdrag with it..

Only an 8 year old names thier tractor. Ziggy. Whats that all about.
When I advise not to buy a cub I know full well who builds them. I will say that the new cub compacts are probably of much better construction. Well we can only hope they are.

CH, in answer to your question (and a few ramblings of my own). The $4700 repair was to the hydro trans, nothing to do with the engine. I was told by the previous owner that the tractor and backhoe were chained tight, front and rear, to a trailer. When they got to the jobsite and backed her off they noticed hydro oil leaking. Knowing what I think I know now about hydros, they must have run her low on fluid. They never faulted the tractor, just said they'd never chain one to a trailer that way again.
My understanding of the engine failure was that the 8 mounting bolts became loose enough for the vibration to crack the block. I may be wrong on this. I see in the owner's manual in the run-in procedure that torqueing the FRONT FRAME BOLTS after the first 10 hours is recommended. Anyway, Cub supplied a short block and the dealer took care of having it installed before he delivered it to us for the original price we'd agreed on. There was just under 900 hours of commercial use on the tractor at the time.
This has turned into quite a topic. A lot of repetition, but a few real nuggets of knowledge, too. I, personally, have nothing but praise for the work this little tractor will do. As I write this she's just hit 2129 hours, which means the engine has over 1200 hours since coming here. Using synthetic oil in the winter was a bit scary at first, now I won't go through a winter without it. After 1200 hours, it still uses no appreciable amount of oil between changes. Enough for now, CH.

One more thing, before I go, though. I think Ziggy is a fine name for a tractor. Now a guy that names a tractor Lucy? No hope at all for him!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have read this and some questions that needed to be asked were never asked. If the engine is the question, was an oil sample ever taken to find out the true cause of cylinder shape? If the break is the question, what kind of loader, backhoe and sub-frame were used? Is this tractor suitable for a 7.5' hoe? Was the bucket used at the same time properly with the hoe? I was told by my local dealer loader needed to be C/C for the sub-frame and hoe to work proper. Were all options compatible with this tractor? And we still have the hourly maintenance question? I have a 7360ss with C/C loader, C/C 7.5 hoe and C/C sub-frame with 400+ hrs. The hoe only comes off in the winter when both tractors are used for snow removal. No problems. I also own a 7265 300+ hrs that I use for mowing blading and again no problems. I owned two Kubotas before buying the Cubs and had to put a wet clutch in a Kubota that had a design flaw that Kubota did know about and discontinued that model. My point is "cub hater" knows what really happened and it sounds like owner/operator/dealership should resolve. Cub Tech is trying to resolve something that is really above and beyond is duty. My only problem with Cub Cadet is the price of parts! 75.00 for an air filter is abuse! 110.00 for a hydraulic spin on filter is more abuse! I follow the book on maintenance and use OEM parts. I pay the price of the parts and I get good use out of the machine.

Wow....I just both of those filters from a local CC dearler for $80 total. I think your source is taking advantage.....Hmmm, no.... that's too kind....How about GOUGING?

The difference is the tractor model. You're pricing for a 7205 and we're pricing for a 7360. The best price I can find for the hydraulic filter is $85. Call your source and see what they get for the same filter.

Well, If Cub Cadet sold parts directly to the consumer things would probably be different. But unfortunately Cub Cadet doesn't sell the parts. The dealers do. Cub's network of dealers are responsible for pricing.

I guess I'm cheap but we have 3 cars in our household and 2 of them use PH3614 oil filters and one uses PH3675. The PH3614 physically fits the Kohler engine on my 3235 and matches the filter specifications with slightly more oil capacity. The PH3765 appears to match the specs for the hydro filter although I haven't changed that one that. I buy them for $3-4 at Walmart, K-mart etc.
