I have posted the following in the other tractor site too:

A few months ago, there was some discussions about boosting the lifting capacity of the 790 (loader and 3pth) by about 20%, by adding shims to the main relief valve (from 2045 psi (default) to ~2400/2500 psi).
To those who did the modification, did you have any problems since then (i.e. defective pump, hose/couplers leaking, etc.) ?
I'm planning to do the same mod. but would like to hear your feedback first.
Thanks

There is "another" tractor site? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Gee, I've been so busy reading all the information on this one I never thought to look for another one...

I would suggest not going over 2350 psig. My dealer boosted the pump pressure to 2500 and I had all kinds of problems. Bending hyd cyl on the BH and on the FEL luckily it was covered under warranty. They have hit a sweet spot at 2350 psig I am very happy with both implements now...

I was the one that pioneered that discussion. I boosted mine to 2500 with absolutely no ill effects. The one thing that you have to remember is that with extra power you have to use extra sense. Never lift something off of the corner of the bucket....that's a good way to bend something. Be careful about rear ballast also. You won't hurt the pump. It's well worth the time.
