At first I was against a backup camera in a tractor but after seeing how nice they are in vehicles I thought it would be nice to have in the tractor. There is not a good place to put a rear view mirror in the tractor. I keep my mirrors adjusted down low so I can watch my tires for maneuvering close to stuff.

Here is what I used:

monitor

Amazon.com : 7" TFT LCD Color 2 Video Input Car RearView Headrest Monitor DVD VCR Monitor With Remote and Stand & Support Rotating The Screen : Vehicle Overhead Video : Car Electronics

camera

Amazon.com : Car Rear Vehicle Backup View Camera (Waterproof) : Electronics

I think this is the mount I used

Amazon.com: Fotodiox Windshield Suction Cup Mount with Ballhead - Mount for Smart Phone Clip, Cameras, DVs, GPS, Webcams: GPS & Navigation

To keep from having to drill holes in the tractor I mounted the camera on the inside. I made the mount out of a couple pieces of aluminum. To hold the mount on I used a bolt that holds the top on the tractor. With the camera mounted inside I don't have to worry about it getting wet and freezing up.

Here is the monitor mounted to the windshield.

Some pics of the monitor on

Here I am backing up close to a 4 wheeler.

I can also do a mirror image on a monitor. The monitor has 2 channels. I'm not sure what to do with the second channel:scratchchin:

I like it! The second could be on the ^^^bucket or focused on the edge of your mower, plow, etc so you can keep one eye ahead and one on the work. Might keep those transmission line towers from sneaking up on you while you're minding the implement. :D

Being in the cab the camera will also stay fairly dust free.

Cheater:), Nice job on the windshield mount, Nice clean install. Welcome to the future.
Did you say second camera? Is there a bucket cam on the horizon ? I can show you things with a bucket cam that you have not seen before.

Looks like you have some room for some gauges under that monitor:thumbsup:

Bucket/forks camera.

I'm not sure about a loader camera. I can see my forks fine and I can get a full load in the bucket fine. It probably would make things more efficient at times. I was thinking I could mount one on the quick hitch so I could watch a 3PH implemenet.

Yep, if I keep the back window clean I should have a clear picture.

Nice job Roger.

Thanks

The windshield mount is semi-temporary. I have a more elaborate plan for a mount but it will take a while to make.

I'm eventually going to add a couple of a gauges when I get a chance. I only had the camera since December.

Looks great.

Clean install and no holes!;)

Thanks, no holes was my goal.

Wow, we think alike. Last month I purchased the same monitor and two cameras (one like yours without the backup lines and a different camera) with plan to use a ram mount I have lying about to clamp it on the door handle or sticker it somewhere.

I've just been too busy to install anything.

OK now I have a different thought. I want to install this setup on my work truck for blind spot removal (cap on box ix just under 8' tall and cars MCs get lost behind me. I drive about 300 miles a day on the job. I want them for lane changing on the eway

I didn't realize that the setup could be that cheap. I'm now thinking one on the back of the truck to hook up the 5th wheel and another by the license plate to hook up a regular trailer. Major time saver when doing things by myself. THANKS!

Sooo, Roger, how's the visibility on that specific monitor in sunlight? Steve

Similar thoughts here for a trailer. I have a 2012 Tundra and wonder if this would be plug and play or a hassle? What vehicle are you hooking into?

You could probably hang a camera on each mirror and use the remote to switch channels when you change lanes. I'm not sure if you would be able to eliminate the blind spot.

I could not justify spending $300+ for a back up camera. I started out trying to figure out a way to use my tablet as the monitor for cheap soltion for a back up camera. It did not look like it was possible to do with out costing a arm and leg. I ran on to this stuff on amazon and I thought I would share it

It seems fine to me. I have not got to use the tractor since I put the camera in but I tested it before before I wired it up and I ran it around a little after I completed the installation. I'll report back after I use it some.

You can get some that are wireless. http://www.amazon.com/Peak-PKC0BU7-Wireless-Back-up-Camera/dp/B009VYWJ0A/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1405220264&sr=8-3&keywords=peak+back+up+camera

For a clean install on a vehicle you could get a radio that has a monitor with A/V inputs and use it for a camera.

I have a Peak wireless one in my 7x14 cargo trailer. Older one with a screen half the size of an iPhone. I mounted the camera on the back & ran the wires up to the very front for the transmitter. Signal barely makes it up to the dash of mt '09 Tacoma when hitched up. Frequent static & often drops out.

It's dam handy, but flawed. The screen size & resolution suck, but the abysmal range is the worst part.

If you don't need it on all the time, just for specific activities, you could try iBall or Swift Hitch which can be moved/mounted at will (magnetically).
