We joined years ago mainly because my wife can't or won't change a tire. Now that I always drive an old vehicle I maintain a membership and needed them approximately once a year for several years. It felt mighty good to bring the van home on that rollback knowing the bill had been paid in my annual fee.Is anybody else a member? I dropped my RF tire over the shoulder of an icy road today. By the time that I got done I was well and thoroughly stuck, with the right side of the truck fully into the ditch. That's when I remembered that I'm an AAA member... I've been paying my dues for years but never needed them.
I made the call and they said somebody would be there within an hour; that was a bit after 4:00. By 5:00 I was out of the ditch, thanking him and down the road.
31/2 hours later I am still getting texts from them, stating
I even sent a return text stating that I am out and on the way home. Hopefully they won't send somebody else out looking for me.
Is that pic from Antique Acres? I've been to their show several times. I should join, and bring my D17 up.
I like the gently rolling landscape up there. This pic was taken about 15 miles upstream from you, up Shell Rock River.
On a Cub Cadet forum, a bunch of guys got together with their garden tractors and moldboard plows to have a day of fun. A farmer offered his ~ 100 acre bean field for us to plow. It was a perfect day for it, and at least 50 guys showed up for the fun. It took less than 8 hours to turn it black.
Thanks, it puts a smile on my face just thinking about the photo! On a Cub Cadet forum, a bunch of guys got together with their garden tractors and moldboard plows to have a day of fun. Changing a tire is a lost art. Between the fact that many modern vehicles don't even have a spare (or it's just one of those "silly spares"), and you often have to dig out the owner's manual to find out where they hid the jack.I would not let my wife drive without some form of road side assistance. I do not think she could change a tire if she had too, much less if she got stuck. I have changed plenty of tires in my time and can still do so. However if I got stuck like OP I would certainly need help.
