Adding a 3rd function to 2538. Mahindra or WR Long

Factory diverter, advantage is that you can control the speed of the third function, disadvantage is that you can curl or third fucntion but not both at the same time.
WR Long, advantage is that you can curl and third function at the same time but the speed is fixed.

Up to you to decide which is more important...control or two functions at once.

Well I went ahead and ordered the WR Long kit. I understand I could probably (surely) pieced this thing together myself but I have to admit I have pieced many things together in my life and the time, effort, aggravation...and then realizing you missed something and gotta go back...etc. is more than I care to deal with right now. I guess this means I'm willing to pay someone else to do the leg work. Just give me what I need. Period. Now....that said...I have done this before and been highly disappointed in that what I was sent was wrong and I still got to do some running around. It's what I call the difference between a good vendor and a not so good one. We'll find out if it was worth it in the next few days when it gets here. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Thanks for all of the help guys!

You'll be happy with the WR Long kit. Here is a picture of mine installed on my 2538. I've had this one installed on mine for about 140 hours of use, most of it loader work, and it has been excellent. The ergonomics of the switch on the handle is very good. I would recommend that you also buy EA's spring mount kit for holding the hose ends up on the loader cross bar. I tried several different hose mounting options, and the spring is better than any of them.

One other thing I should ask: when you put these things on, is there any kind of air bleeding that has to be done or the first time you operate it the air will be pushed out all by itself. Also I can imagine that filling a new hydraulic system will lower the amount of hydraulic fluid. Will it lower it a lot? Are you supposed to use a specific brand of fluid?

Well I thought I'd be posting to tell you how awesome it was grappling today....but looks like my plans of spending big money now to avoid having to run all over the place just weren't meant to happen. Now...spending the money part did happen but not having to run around...well that's business as usual.

The guys that make grapples...well they don't like to make them and have them ready to ship unless they know they are sold. I was told by many that the demand is so high that can't keep up. My thoughts are that if I can sell all that I can make, I'm building these things as fast as I can. If I can't build them that fast, I'm hiring more people. If people have that much money to spend I'm going to give them a place to spend it! But be it as it is, I did find one CID grapple in stock and picked it up.

Now common sense tells me that quick disconnects should be pretty common. I figured they'd have a couple different types. I mean how ridiculous would it be to have a whole mess of different types, right? WR Long uses a 3/8 quick disconnect. A lot of grapples come with 1/2 inch flat face and that's what was on this grapple. There was a hydraulics store near by. I called WR long and they told the hydraulics store which ones I needed. All good? Yep...here I sit waiting for tomorrow. Take a look at the attached pics. The one with the hoses are the WR Long QD's. The ones in the other are what the hydraulics store gave me. If pay close attention you can see the differences. Why...why...why....???

So I get to go make the drive back tomorrow this time with WR Long hoses in hand. Seriously didn't think I would have needed them first time. Jokes on me.

The flat face is the typical QD used on skid steers. The Ag/Pioneer style WR Long are the typical tractor style couplings. But their has to be at least 100 other variations of QDs that have been used over the years plus different sizes. The hydraulic shop should have the ones that interface with the WR Long.

Btw it doesn't help that every brand call the same coupling by a different name. Here is just a sample of the madness!

I have a couple of great grapple options in stock for your tractor and application; very nice ones at that. I have the right couplers. I'm also closer than CID.

Drive here today instead of Denton and please bring the grapple. I will give you a pair of couplers.

We are working towards opening our new facility, which will allow us to be much more efficient. Our lasers are burning steel round the clock. Our guys are coming in early, working late and working weekends but we can not keep up with demand. We do not like the situation any more than you do, but we are trying our best to supply the huge demand.
It is very challenging and we are so grateful.

RNeumann...just wow!!!

EA: It's not just you guys! CID has a four week back log too. I just happened to find one that a dealer in Salisbury had in stock. Granted...I am an impatient person. Most people may be fine with waiting it out. I am in a constant battle with "clearing my plate" and the wait four weeks thing from any manufacturer just doesn't fit my lifestyle. Who knows...I very well may regret it! Wouldn't be the first time!
