I tend to get claustrophobic in small spaces. I don't think I'd be able to enter that shelter. Seeing a large tornado approaching might just change all that...........

Or when a griz approaches and one guy says to the other I hope we can outrun the bear... and the other guy says no not really, I just need to outrun you.

I put this together for a customer a while back. It eats up garage space but I like the design a lot better than the below ground ones. It’s also capable of being taken apart from the inside if debris are blocking the door.

It’s pretty similar in construction besides the lack of insulation for fire resistance.
I am thinking if you were stuck inside you could pop one of the vents and shoot a flare or stick a bicycle flag out and wave it.
On the sump pump, I realize sheltering from a tornado is a reletively short time. But, depending on your water table do you think a manual pump would be worth considering?
