All posts show as read

I went to Rural Living and all the folders are white as if read. This happens about every twentieth time I open a subject. Just prior to that I was in "Photos" and "Forum Feedback" and posts I had not read where appropiately in yellow. This has been happening for longer than a year so it doesn't appear it has any thing to do with the update. I went back into "Rural Living" twice- the same deal. Do others get this? I'm using IE 5.5 and the greeting " Welcome Back Rch" is displayed. To use a WWII analogy, are there gremlin electrons?

I am having a similar situation. Not all of the posts show read, but maybe half of them will.
The date doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, because there are some on Feb.
3rd that show read & some that doesn't. Also when i open some threads that I haven't read yet,
it goes to the middle of the thread like a read part of it.

This is because technically, when you view a forum index (say, Kubota Buying/Pricing) then the software marks that forum as read... while you can still see the unread messages during that session, next time you login, or close your browser and visit again, any messages from when you last viewed that forum to when you're now viewing, will be considered "new" ... you may not have viewed a thread, but since it was marked as read, you are jumped on the page to the oldest new message since you last viewed that forum.

Muhammad, my problem is different compared to molerj; Even posts that are brand new as indicated by the date and time are not highlighted as 'unread'. Every post is white, even those not opened and read yet. RCH

I follow the questions, but I don't understand the answer. My problem, I am sure.
However, after I finish reading a post, it flips to white for the time being.(Some are white even though I have not read them, but I figured it was the way I get into them). When I sign back on later in the day, the posts I read earlier show 'unread' by the yellow box. For example, earlier today I read your message, and tried to decipher what was said. When I just signed back in and read the reply (to your message), your message and the previous two showed as 'unread'. Not a complaint, as this is by far the best chat site I have run across anywhere. It would be helpful however, that once a post is read, it indicates being read forever. Also, if not read, it does not flip to a 'read' status. This may be beyond the power of the software, and if so, I can be plenty satisfied with the status quo. Thanks for the great site.
