...or just a little foolish to want to put on R-4 tires on my 6500? Reason being to leave less foot print / tire damage.

AARRG! I'm getting frustrated at not being able to use my tractor because of tire damage. On the tractor now are loaded ag.tires.

I would end up putting on ag. tires in winter, for snow and cutting wood, and R-4's in summer.

Anybody with 5000 - 6500 - heavy machines - run R-4's?
It is going to cost about $1700. Ouch! But worth it to me to be able to use the tractor around the homestead.

Would appreciate some opinons/comments.

I was suprised by the depth of my tread prints as mine aren't even loaded. I can really tell when I walk over a track though as the ground is super hard and rough.

Maybe you could borrow a similar sized tractor from the dealer you intend to buy the tires from and test it out first to see if it was any improvement?

Only downside I could see besides the cost is the hassle of taking those loaded tires off every year. From what I understand it is not something you would want to do becuase of the weight. You'd probably have to have a tire place come out and change them out each year, or get 3 of your neighbors/friends to help push and hope someone didn't get flattened. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Maine, I have loaded r4's on my massey 1433v tractor that weighs over 3200+ and if the ground is soft from rain or thaw it leaves marks also, maybe not as bad as Ag's but still leaves marks....sharp turn in 4WD forget about it grass is gouged, unless its dry..

If I could do it over ,It would be large TURF'S for sure,no question in my mind... It will still dig with loader and when it spins the tires whether pushing or pulling there will be less damage to turf.

My older tractor with turfs will pull the wheels of the ground traction wise and when it spins the tires it barely removes grass from the ground the R4 tired tractor immediately digs into the ground then I have to fill in everywhere and with 4WD that gets ugly quick... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
