I hope you are not going all the way to 1/2" chain. 3/8" grade 70 is plenty for most uses with these winches, and lots of people use 5/16". Carrying 1/2" when you don't really need to gets old really quickly.
Consider that 3/8" chain is about 1.5# per foot - it really adds up! - and 1/2" is about 2.5#.
On the other hand, 5/16" chain is about 1# per foot and practically floats on your shoulders compared to the heavy stuff.

I ended up getting the 3/8th and think it will be fine. I really don't mind the 15lb-20lb chain because I dont have to carry it very far. I am putting roads on the property so I can get decently close to most stuff and not have to carry it too far.
