another hydro question on a 2320

hello all, changed my hydro and filter today on my jd2320 at 4yrs 80 hrs the screen and oil looked clean no steel chips on screen. my question is i took out 2.6 gallons completly empty both bolts oppend. under the hood the sticker says it takes 2.6 gal the dealer sold me 3.4 witch he said the tractor takes after putting the oil in the site glass looked ok 1/2 to 3/4 after i ran everything shut tractor off waited about 10 min the was no oil in site glass mabey 1/4? should i add more or dont wory about it? tu

I am assuming are talking about a JD 2320 - but I think my comments are pretty generic..

first off make sure that the 3pt hitch arms are DOWN, and also run the rear PTO.. I did NOT run the PTO and kept adding more and more hydraulic fluid until it ran out the fill tube.. Then I had to drain, run the engine/PTO, shut it down, then check the fluid - lather rinse repeat until satisfied.. lol

I would start by adding back what you took out and then keep an eye for a few uses.. I know mine will show different levels on different days - I think its because of if I ran the PTO, position of the FEL, and the 3pt position..
