I have been working on framing the front of the hood to match the radiator support on the machine. I milled grooves to press rods into the flat metal to form the grill. This is also like the existing grill. Then I welded the joints from the backside. Kinda snowy outside one day so it was a good day for the cutting and millwork.

Sorry about the discomfort. Also thanks to everyone for the compliments. I have been criticized for years because I make a production out things, but I have to satisfy myself. As you all know by now I am a little crazy or something.
I have been doing some little things that take as long as the the big things.
I fabricated a locking radiator access door and adjusted the funny looking teardrop hole for the air cleaner pipe, then I made a removable half circle enclosure around the muffler, all on the hood. Why the teardrop hole? It is part of making my hood hinged. I need to remove the air filter pipe after the pre cleaner is removed. That little area allows me to get a ratchet in there to loosen the clamp.
Next I got a couple stainless hinges and bolted them to the bracket where the hood was intended to be bolted. I had to drill and tap the 2 holes on the inner portion of the hinges. That is the reason for the block of wood back there so I wouldn’t drill the radiator too.
Now I have to do some calculations for size and strength of the gas springs. Oh yes I also put the final bolts in the support bracket. I couldn’t handle the ones with screwdriver slots and painted heads. Also I put some pieces of conveyor belt to seal the air gap around the shroud. The original ones weren’t available and weren’t as strong.

Now for the excuses. I had to replace my 3 year old cooktop because it failed and the parts were more than a new one, so I went with a different brand that is my favorite. But it couldn’t be used as a drop in so I had to grind the granite to fit as a flush mount. Pictures show. No:2 excuse preparing firewood for next season. I had some 80’ oaks that were so close to others that I couldn’t fall them and my lift only goes to 40’, so I hired my friend with and 83’ lift and cut them from the top in 25’ sections.

Thanks aircommuter......... I understand the projects taking time. I've been remodeling my master bath for several months now. Only thing left now is to cover the double sink vanity with porcelain tile. Trying the do it with 24" x 48" tiles so there will be only one thin grout line in the middle. These freaking things are heavy and with me a couple months away from turning 75 it's hard getting them upstairs to the master bath. Already cracked two cutting the holes in them for the sinks. Take care and can't wait to see the final photos.

I am planning on doing a final video on YouTube, running and operating. It’s warmed up this week so I plan on painting the hood, side panels and miscellaneous pieces.
I might do a preliminary engine running and operating the loader up and down at least, YouTube . Can’t do the clam yet as I have to make some cylinder pins.

I've never seen a lift with tracks before. I've rented 40 foot lifts and they terrify me, I don't think that I would want to go any higher!!!!

The tracks can pull in to make the unit 36” wide and can offset vertically for traversing across slopes, and they are white rubber. It weighs 8600, powered by a Kubota Diesel. Also has wireless remote when needed. They keep that thing busy everyday. They charge $300 per hour with two guys and two chain saws. A lot gets done in a couple hours.

I've been watching these things for a few years. Our in-laws needed tree work in a tight area. They drove it through the gate in the fence. Really impressive piece of machinery. Not inexpensive, though. Have to keep it working to make money.
