All I know is that pickles should NOT be automatically put on a hamburger. If pickles are wanted, let people ask for them. Or if you feel that all hamburgers should have pickles. put them on the side and let the consumer put the stinking things on their hamburgers. To be clear, I have no problem with people putting pickles on their own hamburgers and eating them. I like tomatoes on my hamburgers. I can and do eat the majority of them without tomatoes, because they are not offered in most cases.

Why not order them without pickles you say? Well sure, I do that every time, but does it make a difference? Many times it does not. You get your pickles whether you want them or not. And taking them off manually, while partially effective, is not wholly effective as the stink and taste of the pickle is still there.

Without a doubt the majority of the hamburger loving public WANT the stinking things on their hamburgers. But it don't make much difference if you love them or not, you are probably going to get them on your burger. :)

I tried some new pickles last week that were really good. Brother Floyd’s pickles. And great on a burger. The ones we got were sweet and spicy.

I can't eat at most burger joints (or restaurants) due to food allergies.
Pickles would be fine.

I think you can put whatever you like on anything. For those who were in the service - -

Beef gravy "slurry" on a piece of toasted bread - "sh*t on a shingle".

I rather like dill pickles on my burgers, and especially with my chili. Got into that habit in high school, when we had VERY greasy chili at least once a week, and the pickles helped cut the grease, or so it seemed. What I don't like, is mayonnaise on either my hamburger, or in the rare occasion I order a Cheeseburger, on it. Some places automatically put mayo on a Cheeseburger, so it's become a habit to specify mustard...but they don't always do it.

Went to a new restaurant here called "Coaches", ordered a BBQ beef sandwich with sauce on the side. The first time, they put the sauce on the sandwich. I sent it back; when I got the new sandwich, it was something entirely different...so I sent it back. By the time I got the third one...which, incidentally had the sauce on the sandwich, everyone else was through eating. The gave me a coupon for a free meal, but gave it away...never been back. I have since learned, NEVER send something back at a restaurant.

I will try almost anything once - suffer later. When I was young and in my prime - we would go to a hamburger joint in Anchorage, for lunch. Arctic Roadrunner. They had the VERY best - thick skinned Jalapeño peppers. God - they were HOT. Eat 15 to 20 along with a double Polar Bear burger. Buy a pint of ice cream on the way home. An attempt to quench the fire - that was sure to come later.

Wow 329 posts arguing politely about what toppings belong on what. Passionate subject, no doubt.

I put mayo on all my sandwiches. It is delicious and goes with everything.

Rigid, unbreakable law of eating: Ketchup does NOT go on a bratwurst. Mustard only. hot dogs can have both.

I love pickles on my burgers. Shoot, I'll put mayo, mustard and ketchup on them too. (exception: fancy burgers with weird toppings, often pickle incompatible).

Yesterday we mixed some McCormicks Montreal steak seasoning into some Heinz Mayoracha and let it sit in the fridge a few hours to soften up the steak seasoning.

Spread that on a good bun with some baked chicken, swiss cheese, tomato, spinach and avocado. :p

I found people raised on "yellow" , mustard, usually hate mustard, but really hate tumeric
Introduced many to spicy, hot, ground and other mustards and saw many change opinions.

Well back to the pickles talk, I'm from eastern europe, we like everything pickled.
I took my mom shopping last week, went to a euro deli, man they had so much stuff! Among many things, I picked up pickled tomatoes. Oh so good!
