And being an old smoker, I'd like to address the price. $300 an ounce is on the high side (no pun intended) of the cost range. But what the smokers of the 60s and 70s don't realize is the potency of the new strains. You cannot smoke a small joint and function. At all. You will pass out or simply be incapacitated. For the Beer drinkers it would be equivalent of slamming 30 beers. 3 or 4 hits is plenty. So in context. This new MJ is a LOT cheaper than the ditch weed grade crap of 40 years ago.

Another point. Being the humans we are. If something is readily available it quickly loses it's appeal. This is true of MJ in legal states. Last Summer we went Jeeping near Buena Vista Colorado. We shared a house with 8 other people. A friend of one guy that lived in Denver came down to wheel with us for a couple days. Was common practice after having an evening BBQ to light up. Those that wished participated, those that didn't, didn't. After that guy left there was a large Roach laying on the picnic table. It laid there until we finally threw it away while cleaning up to leave. Once everyone accepted the legality of it there, it no longer intrigued everyone to smoke it all up.

I don't think it's going to happen in Vermont...unless the Feds remove it from the list of illegal drugs.

I have mixed emotions on legalization. I smoked pot up until about 1985 or so...enjoyed it too. But legalization has drawbacks. So far, it hasn't produced the revenue forecasts. In Washington state, black market pot is cheaper then the legal smoke, so guess where the users are buying their pot?
Also, legal pot tends to attract lowlifes as well as dealers (and users) of harder drugs ...we have enough of them in towns like Burlington. Amsterdam suffered this problem and dramatically restricted legal hash sales.
Roy I am shocked .Now I understand the hat .

:laughing:Richard you surprise me also . I burned until all the tests come into play . My laborer always said you dig much better after lunch ? A week ago we got called in to do a water main repair and went to lunch . Did a couple 1 hits afterwards . I could not even hit the ground . Thank the man above it was just backfilling .

I am not a habitual smoker. But I enjoy it occasionally. I think there are a lot of us. Most won't admit it.

No wonder you are so agreeable on TBN. I can think of a few other members who could benefit. :D

It's all about the Benjamins. Money, money, money! Like states that have lottery tickets, for revenue, not to support the tiny %age given to the schools. Drug wars, just another way of wasting money chasing after easy to bag users/dealers, etc. just to incarcerate them, then start the whole cycle again and again - job perpetuation for the DEA, local law enforcement, blah, blah, blah.
Don't be fooled by the reports of crazed pot smokers reeking havoc and running over your family in the K-Mart parking lot. More likely not able to find the way out of the lot without help from someone less stoned.
The drunk is the one who's going to kill you. The cigarette smoker is the one who will die from Cancer.
THC content today will knock the 1970's era 'head' onto the floor to sleep it off.

Where are you getting this? "We", is that the people of VT; who you have claimed to be a "True Vermonter" even though you're no such thing, by anyone's standard?
Amsterdam and hash?! Have you ever been to Amsterdam? I have, this past summer. Are you equating your statement about what legal pot "tends" to attract, "lowlifes, dealers and harder drug users" to Burlington, VT with life in Amsterdam?
First, I doubt you know enough to comment accurately about life as you paint it in Burlington, VT, let alone with life in Amsterdam.:confused2:
Amsterdam attracts many people to visit because of the titillating legalized prostitution of the red light district, amongst other things; one being the long standing legal use of certain drugs.
Anyway, VT is poised to possibly legalize pot, but might not, possibly for some of the same reasons it did not jump on making the former Pownal dog race track into a casino, a few years back. VT wants what other states want; revenue, BUT we're not willing to be whoe's just to gain every dime available, often to our own detriment, as in not attracting many types of commerce, and often turning business off in coming to our state, or remaining in it.
Lowlifes are present in ALL New England states, as are hard drug dealers, buyers of same etc. Pot being legal or not has little influence on their presence here, as elsewhere.

This is one of several articles about Amsterdam's problems with legal hashish...and foreigners.

As far as a "True Vermonter"...work with a bunch of 'em...and they're a pretty conservative bunch, just as I am. Many of then told me the worst thing ever happened to Vermont was building the interstates (I-89 and I-91).
So, what part of Massachusetts are you from?

Articles, where? I don't see any articles?! I think you're still smoking too much hash, Roy.
Interstates, really? Do they all have 'Take back VT' stickers on their pickups? Oh that's right, it's before you moved here from.....?! Never mind, no one cares where you're from, just that it's not from VT.
Keep asking the same stupid question, keep getting the same answer: I'm not from MA., never was, still won't be next time you ask. What's your problem with MA. anyway? Are you thinking of going back home?! Don't let me stop you. Need busfare?:confused3:
Conservative, just another way of saying against anything that makes sense/progress.
