Me! Me! Me!

I purchased this machine (Toro 325D) to clear snow from my 1/4 mile long driveway with steep ditches. After getting a 1 ton plow truck stuck/hung up eight times one winter, and sliding around (paved driveway) trying to pull a backblade with my Ford 8N, I'd had enough and found this beauty with a heated cab! Never been stuck even when getting into some hairy situations. I did end up using rubber tire "chains" on the front wheels for better traction. The tires are foam filled.

Now clearing snow is just fun. It came with a 72" mowing deck that I used to mow once on my property which is full of trees and really bumpy (zero turn with suspension seat to the rescue).

Congratulations.

The 4WD makes a big difference, even if the older ones only work going forward.

Is there a way to put Air conditioning in one of these cabs?

Has anybody removed their cab for the summer and put it back on in the winter?

What all parts does a guy need to install if removing the cab for the summer.

Looks like I would need a cover for the electrical panel and something for the fuel fill, at the very least

i AM Now working on the fan on the 1996 223D Model 30223 serial 60565

The fan was wobbly. I ordered a new bearing part# 36-7290.

I have not pressed the Fan Hub *0 pt# 84-1930 off the bearing shaft yet. I am not sure that the Movement is not in the fan hub pt# 84-1940 and not in the bearing.

Could be both. Has anybody messed with one of these?

Seems like it should be tight enough to not wobble when re-assembled.

Is there an online service manual for this machine? I have a paper copy. but sometimes an online copy helps as well.

Back in the day (late 1940's) when I subscribed to Hot Rod Magazine, they always said with enough time and money, you can put any engine in any car.

So yes with enough time and money, you can put Air conditioning in one of those cabs. :D

TORO put it in the Groundsmaster 360 Quar Steer: https://www.toro.com/en/golf/trim-surround-mowers/groundsmaster-360-4wd-cab

Yep, right there on the page that you linked:

That is not the regular service manual. It's only 36 pages. I could not find the full service manual. It has lost of pages.

I got the fan bearing changed on the 1996 223D. I read the instructions about 1/2 way through.

It specifically says do not remove the transmission end of the drive shaft. To late, I already had it off.

Is there any specific reason they would have had that in the instructions? I have not re-installed the drive shaft yet.

I also could not find any torque specs for that.

I hate going without torque specs. I have no feel for tight. Sometimes when I torque, I find parts are loser than I thought and other times I'm already over.

This is not Groundsmaster related, but I wasn't sure where to post to get good advice. I know some guys here have used Flail mowers. - I never have.

I have been looking for a mower for the back of the 4010 diesel John Deere. An 8' Ford Flail mower popped up tonight.

What do I need to look at? How will it work in tall grass? How do they work in general?

This is a decent old mower. Everything turns like it should. The pto shafts is junk. I think I have one and if I do I'll include it with the mower. Any questions feel free to ask. We do have a way to load.

I don't have a Ground Master but I have an old Proline 118 that's still going strong....well I did replace the engine last year.

Hard to believe that you haven't seen the epic flail mower thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/118882-lets-talk-flail-mowers.html
