I don't have a Ground Master but I have an old Proline 118 that's still going strong....well I did replace the engine last year.

John

Looks like the same basic out front deck design as the Groundsmaster (note the "s"):

Well...so far I've run my newly acquired Groundsmaster approximately 10 hours with zero issues. I will say that the quality of cut is first rate. I need to raise the deck perhaps 1/2 inch for the upcoming hot months. I have noticed that in thick grass you have to slow down to keep from slipping the belt. I guess this is due to the mulching deck and blades. My son informed me that they took the mulching blades off their two units at the golf course to speed up mowing time. I may go that route. All I can say is that the Groundsmaster is a tremendous mowing machine that reduces trimming to almost nothing.

I am working on the 1996 223D Model 30223 serial 60565. lift arms. Deck Mosel 30575, Serial 690001 - 69999 - Nearest I can tell.

How tight are the holes in the lift arms supposed to be? On the end the cylinder attaches. They are wobbled out so they are close to 13/16 on a 3/4" pin. The schematic also shows no bushings to keep the lift cylinder end centered.

The ends of the cylinders might also be oversized. Less than 13/16. A 13/16 shaft will not fit in the holes.

There are no bushings to keep the cylinder end centered in the lift arm.

The holes in the part number - 92-9786 Bracket-Carrier take a 7/8 shaft and are wobbled out pretty good. When I fix those holes, should I make them as tight as possible to the 7/8 shaft?

The brass bushings lift arm assemblies -part number 92-5648 are 1 3/8" O.D. and 7/8" I.D. 7/8" to 15/16" long. I ordered 2 ea. 3" pieces of stock to cut them out of.

Do you need the truck?

The Groundsmaster is a 1998 327 series, gas engine.

Could always use a cheap truck. I don't think the truck is worth much more than scrap

Actually the truck might not be a bad buy. Tires look good.

How hard would it be to find a smaller deck for my Toro Groundsmaster 223D?

I'm looking for something between 36" and 54" either a ZTR mower or a deck for the 223D

Is there a way to put Air conditioning in one of these cabs?

Has anybody removed their cab for the summer and put it back on in the winter?

What all parts does a guy need to install if removing the cab for the summer.

Looks like I would need a cover for the electrical panel and something for the fuel fill, at the very least
1- yes! Take your pick of self contained AC systems designed for small sleepers on tractor trailers. A gentleman who just purchased my 325 with cab will be taking one off the Peterbuilt he currently owns and fitting it to the cab.

2- you can take the cab off... but with the weight and hassle of removal, it's really not worth it. The later generation Cozy Cabs (wider version with built-in cab filter and fan ducts) is actually cooler with the cab on and fan running. The UV glass keeps a good bit of the heat out, and the shade of the roof helps as well. Add that to the filtered forced air, and it's considerably cooler in the cab than running my open station unit on a hot day.

3- the parts you will need to install, depend on the quality of installation. If it was installed properly, you shouldn't have to replace anything, short of the gauge panel cover on some models, and putting the original fill cap back on.

This is not Groundsmaster related, but I wasn't sure where to post to get good advice. I know some guys here have used Flail mowers. - I never have.

I have been looking for a mower for the back of the 4010 diesel John Deere. An 8' Ford Flail mower popped up tonight.

What do I need to look at? How will it work in tall grass? How do they work in general?

The ad: 8 ft ford brand flail mower. Hooks to tractor 3 point

This is a decent old mower. Everything turns like it should. The pto shafts is junk. I think I have one and if I do I'll include it with the mower. Any questions feel free to ask. We do have a way to load.
Here's my check list for any flail deck:

-finish roller (full length roller across the back is a MUST... even if your just using it for rough cutting.... trust me, you'll thank me later)

-pillow block bearings (I say this, because they can be easily sourced for an old unit, long after OEM support has halted... you do NOT want to be stuck with unit you can't find bearings for

-two point swivel (blades that hang by U-bolts or chains are great... those that hang by unit specific shackles [like some Alamo brand mowers] are not... when they break [and they will] there will come a day when you can't find them

-front casters (I know... it's just something else to grease, but they're worth it in the long run

-gear box rating (always make sure your gearbox is rated for AT LEAST 10 more horsepower than your power unit... you don't want the 2nd most expensive part to break, should you stall the rotor)

Hope this helps!
